This cosy hideaway is full of character in a rural hamlet location with historic connections to Highcliffe Hall. Includes an outside patio area for alfresco dining and countryside views and is within easy reach of the local pub.

The property is located in the peaceful rural hamlet of Highcliffe, surrounded by rolling hills bordered by dry stone walls. The historic plague village of Eyam is just a mile away which, together with its famous past, boasts a thriving country pub, restaurant and Saxon church. If you head north from the property, you’ll find the picturesque mining village of Castleton, the beginning of the popular Pennine Way and the many attractions of the Hope Valley beyond.

Inside the property the beamed lounge features a large window and door leading out to the patio, as well as a solid fuel stove set within a traditional gritstone fireplace. With a bookshelf stacked with interesting and useful local resources and historic information, this is the perfect place to relax in front of the cosy fire and plan the day ahead. In the adjacent kitchen, which displays cream cabinets, pretty splash back tiles and all the essentials you should need for your stay, there is also a good-sized dining table. Upstairs, the bedroom has been decorated in cool, contemporary shades for a relaxing night’s sleep. An exposed beam adds character to the room, while the bright and airy en suite bathroom is the perfect place to end a busy day with a soak in the tub, there is a shower over the bath, hand basin and toilet.

If the sun is shining, there’s no better place to unwind than on the small patio area to the front of the cottage and take in the rolling views.

The trap house, is a home from home, you were made to feel welcome milk and eggs waiting. The house to us is in the ideal location, in which to explore the Peak District, walking across the fens to visit the pubs and eat the food. The people are very friendly the local bistro offers a welcome respite from your endeavours. Highly recommended!

We had a really lovely stay at The Trap House. Everything we needed was there. It was wonderful to have the fire available as it got very chilly in the evening. Being a dog friendly cottage, it was comfortable but not so pristine that we were worried about our dog being there. Beautiful walks nearby. It was very thoughtful having fresh milk, eggs, Read moretea and coffee when we arrived. A restful and quiet place to stay. Hide

The cottage is lovely and it was great to get home and get the fire going. The cottage is up the hill from Eyam and the views of the area are spectacular. Thank you to the owner who when we accidentally lost the key to the cottage with the spare inside, he came out and rescued us with another key.

Fantastic cottage in great location. Very cosy, loved the log stove in the living area. Close to so many wonderful locations and the scenery was stunning! Would highly recommend.

The cottage is well equipped and can be cosy. I got some split dry logs as I found the multi fuel stove tricky to get going with just the firefighters, kindling and smokeless solid fuel. Apart from that I appreciated the Christmas decorations.

A beautifully cosy cottage in a small hamlet - ideal for a weeks getaway. We have stayed there a number of times and will be back again in the future. The mattress is the softest I have ever slept on - I thought I might struggle (we have a firm mattress at home) but slept soundly every night. The fresh eggs left by the owners are delicious !
