Situated on the north-west fringe of the Peak District National Park, Kinder Cottage enjoys a tranquil rural location amidst the rolling hills of the Dark Peak. For keen walkers, the trails of Kinder Scout and the Pennine Way await. Kinder Cottage is next to the main path for the ascent to Kinder Scout. Local amenities are close by and the cottage is accessible via both road and the railways stations of New Mills and Glossop.

Enjoying a hillside position, Kinder Cottage offers breathtaking views across the surrounding landscape in all directions. The cottage is nestled in a tranquil rural hamlet and adjoins the owner's property.  Entered via the spacious lounge-diner which features a ceiling with exposed beams, as well as an attractive stone fireplace with a log burning stove that makes a feature of this charming space, the lounge also has a sofa bed for occasional use.

Stairs lead up to the first floor kitchen-diner that’s equipped with all the necessities. There are two good size bedrooms on this floor. The first bedroom contains a double bed and the second bedroom has two single beds. Both bedrooms offer far-reaching views across the spectacular landscape. There is a bathroom with a bath, separate electric shower in a large cubicle, hand basin and toilet that perfectly completes this idyllic property.

Outside there is a patio seating area for enjoying the views, and beyond that the expansive rugged countryside of the Peak District awaits. The owner also has a flock of friendly sheep which you are welcome to visit.

The patio/garden was not enclosed as stated and this was also a key search requirement for our choosing this property, Had we known this property would have been selected. Some aspects of the property are showing their age.

Change the double bed mattress ,photograph the property to show what cottage is surrounded by,show the size of the bedroom so you are prepared for tiny space to get into bed.Nowhere to put provisions as cupboards full of stuff as listed in the itinery

Fantastic location and well equipped cottage. Ideal for anyone who enjoys hiking. We didn't need to get in the car once, everything ie shops and pub are within walking distance.

Great cottage, nice hosts next door. Odd layout as mentioned, but advantage during our stay. We had new year here and downstairs was chilly until log burner on in evenings (plenty of blankets supplied) so if wintering bring a small electric heater as understandably the heating is on a timer, we hunkered down with games upstairs in kitchen when housRead moreebound re weather. This is a fantastic property to stay in if you are seeking a peaceful and scenic location. We found everything we wanted in the cottage and the owners very friendly and accommodating. The cottage was really lovely, the best equipped place I have ever stayed in it was like home from home. The living room was really lovely and you felt very comfortable sitting in there during the evening, lucky for us the weather was good so we did not need to use the log fire but the fireplace was so impressive. A wonderful cottage, comfortable, well equipped and ideally located for walkers. The Kinder plateau is easily reached in under 90 mins, for this pair of reasonably fit ramblers in their 60's. The pubs in Heyfield, are within easy walking distance, so a mix of meals out and self catering in the well equipped kitchen work well. Our car didn't move alRead morel week. The owners are very friendly, yet totally unobtrusive, on hand if you need them but otherwise invisible. We are already booked in for 2024. Hide

Fantastic location. We did 3 short walks with our kids (ages 4 & 11) from the cottage: to Hayfield (good playground), a roundabout walk up toward South Head and ending at the Traveller Rest pub (delicious lunch), and up to the reservoir. Also many opportunities for longer walks and trail runs which my husband and I took advantage of. Good days out Read morenearby in Buxton and Castleton too, both about 30 minutes away by car. A lovely, well equipped cottage set in stunning countryside. Perfect for avid walkers with walks starting literally at the front door. If stairs are not your thing, then it's probably not for you. But otherwise it is a great place to stay.

This is a beautiful barn conversion nestled at the foot of Kinder Scout. There are walking opportunities in every direction from the front door and it really is a haven away from the madding crowd.
