Beautifully decorated 100-year-old stone cottage which has been decorated with a mix of traditional features and contemporary style and offers ample space for guests, both inside and out.

In a glorious setting in the Derwent valley, near to the village of Grindleford which is surrounded by wooded hillsides and gritstone edge scenery. With much of the area managed by the National Trust, there are some spectacular walking routes nearby to include the Padley Gorge, Haywood and the Longshaw Estate. Take a walk into the village for a delicious pub lunch at Sir William or to pick up your groceries for your stay.  The cottage is set back from the road on a hill with views over the valley.

Up the well lit steps through the front garden, the main entrance leads into a welcoming hall, the perfect place to store your coats and boats. The sitting and dining room beyond features wooden floors and a cosy log burning stove set in an attractive stone fireplace. The fully equipped stone flagged kitchen has an impressive map covered feature wall, ideal for planning your walks and includes granite worktops, Belfast sink, useful breakfast table, original 100 year old feature side oven and back boiler and pretty views across the garden.  Off this room is a handy separate utility room.

The two bedrooms are located on the first floor. The master bedrooms has an impressive king sized sleigh bed, colourfully wallpapered feature wall, wooden floorboards and pretty curtains. The second bedroom also has a double bed and enjoys views over the garden. The rooms share a recently refurbished bathroom, with elegant corner bath, separate shower cubicle and floor to ceiling stone tiling.

At the rear of the cottage is a courtyard and summer house, perfect for BBQs enjoyed at the low stone table. There is a further stone walled courtyard, which enjoys sun for most of the day, along with a lawned garden with patio sitting area.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

This was our second year stay at Rylea Cottage. The location was perfect for walking and rock climbing, with villages and towns within easy reach too. The directions were perfect in helping us locate the cottage. The property itself was beautiful, everything you could want and more is provided. The place was immaculate and the COVID-19 safety and cleanliness didnt hamper it one bit. It was a perfect place for a little getaway

We loved Rylea, its a great location for the Peak District and whilst its a short walk into Grindleford thats fine. The cottage was lovely. Very quiet, peaceful and comfortable and we spent plenty of time in it when we werent out walking. Great for our three dogs with a secure garden. Great location so that we could get to lots of lovely places to walk. We had a thoroughly restful time.

This was a great dog friendly place to stay, comfortable, welcoming and well located for accessing the Peak District in the car. Both bedrooms are large doubles so plenty of room for everything. There are steps to access the property from both the front and the back so take this into consideration if stairs can be a problem for you.

We stayed with two friends and their three dogs over the new year period and had a fantastic time. The cottage was very clean and comfortable and everything was good quality. Hilary the owner came to see us to make sure we were ok. She was very charming and friendly. The cottage is ideally situated for exploring the Peak District. I would definitely recommend this place spotless and very well equipped and brilliant for dogs. There was a dog bed water bowls and a big tub of treats just for your dogs and a lovely bottle of wine for the humans.

Clean, well presented, everything needed was supplied. Location was excellent- less than half hour drive to Chatsworth, Bakewell, Castleton, Mam Tor, walks, caves etc. Nice pet friendly pubs near by. Good Fish and Chips down the road.

Really lovely cottage. Pictures online don't do it justice. Lovely large rooms and had everything we needed. Great location too. Only 20-30 mins or less to lots of good walks and pretty towns/villages. Lovely touches when we arrived. The cottage was in a perfect location for exploring the Peak district, lots of great walks from the cottage or a short drive away. It was cosy and well equipped with an ample enclosed garden. We highly recommend and will return soon as a week isn't long enough to see all the Peaks.

A fabulous cottage both inside and out. A real home-from-home cottage with all the equipment you'll need for both family and dog (treats and all!).
