Situated in the Peak District’s popular Dovedale Region, this detached barn conversion is the perfect choice for walkers looking for a homely and comfortable base from which to explore the National Park.

This property is nestled in the small hamlet of Hulme End in Staffordshire’s share of the Peak District National Park. With the Manifold Way a stone’s throw away, which stretches some 8 miles south to the village of Waterhouses, this property is ideally located for walkers and dogs alike. Other trails, such as the Tissington trail and the High Peak trail can be picked up with 3 miles from the barn. The local village of Hartington sits 2.5 miles away on the River Dove and boasts shops and pubs including a cheese shop selling a range of local delights.

A tiled reception hall welcomes you into this property, leading through to a spacious farmhouse style kitchen. Stocked with everything you should need throughout your stay, the extensive workspace and a large kitchen table make this a great room for entertaining. Once you’ve finished your meal, the adjoining sitting room with a woodburner and vaulted beamed trussed ceiling is a cosy space to spend the rest of the evening.

The second bedroom is also located on this floor, with two single beds that can easily be linked together to make a double as per your request at the time of booking, while a wet room with shower completes the ground floor. Upstairs the master bedroom features an interesting exposed truss, oak flooring and an en suite bathroom. Next door, a snug room with TV and study desk area has a sofa bed to create a further bedroom if needed. The barn enjoys panoramic views across the Manifold Valley from three vantage points, each with its own sitting area. Dogs will enjoy the large fenced lawn, while the pretty patio with potted plants is the perfect spot for a summer BBQ.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

The perfect location for a relaxing holiday. The barn is beautifully renovated, and fitted and furnished with thought and taste. The adjacent paddock was perfect for our German Shepherd.

A very comfortable and dog friendly cottage that would also suit some people with limited mobility. The setting is great for walkers and the scenery beautiful. The fittings are all good quality and the owner is very helpful and friendly. We would recommend both the cottage and the owner.

Probably the best holiday let we've ever had. It was comfortable, well-appointed and ideally located for walking our two Cocker Spaniels from the doorstep. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends.

This was our second stay at West Side Barn and it was just as homely and cosy as we remembered. Mike is a great host and was available if we had any questions or problems. The weather was mixed but being snuggled up in a warm cottage with a lovely glass of wine made up for it. Lovely, well equipped cosy cottage in beautiful location. Perfectly placed for exploring the area. Nice pub within easy walking distance. Huge secure paddock for the dogs. Great host who was kind, helpful and responded immediately to any issues. Very comfy bed too.
