A charming detached stone property which is nestled in the owner’s spacious grounds, enjoying a hillside position with far-reaching views across the valley and surrounding countryside.

Situated on the edge of the old pretty market town of Wirksworth, the property is a great choice for guests looking to spend a day meandering through the variety of local shops, cafes and restaurants of this historic Peak District town. Located in the owner’s grounds, the barn benefits from the beautiful views across the valley and the surrounding landscape which includes an orchard that runs adjacent to the property. For walkers, the nearby High Peak Trail provides an excellent starting point for a challenging hike through this spectacular part of the world.

Inside, the barn embraces open-plan living with a compact kitchen-diner and lounge area. The kitchen-diner is fully equipped with all the necessities that guests require during their stay, and the lounge area with its exposed wood beams provides a lovely space for relaxing after a day spent outdoors. There is a charming log burning stove which is a central feature of the room and creates an enchanting ambience for a cosy night in.

Upstairs there is a wonderful gallery style bedroom which contains a double bed. There is also an adjoining bathroom which consists of a shower, toilet and hand basin. The windows perfectly frame the breathtaking views across the valley and surrounding landscape, ensuring that the vistas cannot go unnoticed.

Outside, guests can sit and take in the far reaching views across the valley or enjoy a gentle stroll through the adjoining orchard before heading into Wirksworth to one of its delightful restaurants for dinner.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Fab hosts, so informative and welcoming. Beautiful little cottage. Great location. The welcome pack is a lovely touch, especially the wine! Cottage has superb views from the patio, spent breakfast and evenings sitting gazing at the countryside and listening to the local wildlife. Would definitely recommend. This is the first time Ive been to the area, we found some beautiful walks for us and our pooch bailey. Carsington water is a must but make sure you have good footwear on 8 miles all round but worth it. The cottage was so cosy and had everything you could possibly need, Hugo was great too, he made sure we were ok for everything and then left us to Read moreit but was there if needed. It was great to sit on the patio area reading a book and having a coffee so chilling loved it . Hide

We loved Long Meadow Barn. It was clean, cosy, comfortable, peaceful and secure. The location was amazing with lovely views over the countryside. There were numerous walks to enjoy including a pleasant walk along a pathway through the fields to Wirksworth. Wirksworth is a very nice town with independant shops plus a well stocked Co-Op store, pubs aRead morend restaurants. There are good bus links to the surrounding places of interest. A charming cottage in a superb setting. Small but having everything a couple would need. Clean with no clutter. We felt very safe in these uncertain times.

Cottage is small but ample for 2. It's very well equipped and cosy and the sun is lovely in the afternoon on the patio. We had no problems at all here and thoroughly enjoyed our week away.

Very enjoyable holiday , Cottage is small but for us two and a Labrador good enough, bedroom good size though , bed comfortable. Internet excellent, lashings of hot water too, could do with slightly larger tv screen . Ate out several times in local pubs ok, Malt Shovel Inn on the oakerthorpe road we liked best a 15 minute walk mostly UP but after fRead moreood and a beer.. all DOWN!! We would/will go back. 4 nights spent at this lovely small barn conversion for my 50th birthday getaway. Greeted by Hugo the owner who lives next door. Everything was spotlessly clean. Bed comfortable Beautiful location and easy walk down into Wirksworth. . Easy reach to Matlock, Ashbourne, Bakewell, Buxom. Took our border collie who after her long walks was happy to curRead morel up by the door on our return to the property. Stayed in Long Meadow Barn from 27th-29th April ,great location ,cosy and warm with a log burner. Ideal stay for two people,clean and comfortable .Nice touch when we arrived there was a bottle of red wine and a box of biscuits and milk. The Owner lives next door and said if we needed anything just call round.

Enjoyed a pleasant stay at the cottage, everything was spotlessly clean, Hugo the owner was at hand if any issues occurred. I certainly would recommend a short break at the cottage.cannot think of any improvements to be made.

From arrival, Long Meadow Barn ticked so many boxes. Quiet location within easy reach of the village and lots of good walks on the doorstep. Spotlessly clean and with everything we could need including logs for the wood burner. Very accommodating owner for local advice on where to eat if we wanted to venture out etc. Highly recommend staying here aRead morend we will be looking to book again for our next trip to the area. Considering the timing of the holiday - during the pandemic -the cottage was very clean and we felt very secure in there. There was everything that was needed for a short break and we felt very comfortable and relaxed in there. Location is great - quiet but an easy walk into Wirksworth for shops and amenities.

The cottage was perfect for the two of us (and dog) to catch up with our family & friends in the Midlands. The location was beautiful looking down from the village into Wirksworth. The outside patio was perfect in the hot weather for alfresco dining. The owners were very helpful and welcoming and we had everything we needed for our stay. Initially appeared quite small, but actually more than enough space for two people for a week. Very well designed barn conversion with good quality finish and spotlessly clean. The outside terrace is a great bonus when the weather is good, and the owner is happy for you to sit in the adjacent orchard too. He also keeps bees, and will sell you some Read moreexcellent honey.
