An enchanting cottage nestled on a hillside overlooking the breathtaking beauty of the Derwent Valley, this cottage is a great choice for guests looking to explore the many attractions of the Peak District.

Commanding far reaching views of the surrounding landscape, the cottage enjoys an elevated position that makes the most of the panoramic vistas of the countryside. The property is within easy reach of the gorgeous country houses of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall which are ideal for whiling away an afternoon. The nearby pretty market town of Bakewell lies in the heart of the Peak District National Park and offers a great place for meandering through the various shops, cafés and restaurants.

External stone steps lead to the gable end of the cottage and into a spacious lounge-dining area with exposed beams and an impressive vaulted truss ceiling which gives a wonderful sense of height and character to the room. The wooden floors and a electric effect log burner make the room feel warm and inviting.

From the living space, guests go down a single step to the main bedroom which contains a double bed and an en-suite bathroom with enclosed shower, a toilet and hand basin. Wooden stairs lead down to the kitchen which is fully equipped with all the essentials including a washing machine, and also has exposed wooden beams which give the kitchen a country style chic. There are two further bedrooms located downstairs in the cottage. One of the rooms contains a double bed and the other is a cosy single bedroom. The main bathroom has a bath with a shower-over, toilet and hand basin. Due to the steepness of the stairs in the cottage, it is not suitable for children under 10 years of age. Whilst dogs are welcome the property does not have a private garden, but various dog walks from the doorstep.

Either all of the mattresses smell old, or the bedding has been stored damp. Either way, every single bed in the property smelled foul. Consequently we slept on the settees for three nights, then as back-aches started to set in; gave up on our weeks holiday and went home. This was a shame, as the property is an a great location, and other than the Read morebedding is fitted out really well. Hide

We rented this lovely cottage for a short break with a disabled lady we care for. It was mostly perfect and so close for visiting local interests. Very clean and relaxing for our break. I would love to stay again as there is so much more to see and this was a great base to do it.
