An enchanting rural position in the peaceful hamlet of Emery Down, this property is within easy reach of some of the area’s best attractions, including the buzz of Bournemouth and the independent shops of Lymington.

Situated in the quaint hamlet of Emery Down, this is a great base for exploring, walking and cycling. There are picturesque walks directly from the cottage, perfect for discovering the New Forest byways and you’ll find a footpath at the end of the lane to Lyndhurst village. Approximately a 30 minute walk away or five minute drive, Lyndhurst has a small supermarket, cafes, restaurants and other small shops. A short drive away you will find a wealth of attractions such as golf courses at Lyndhurst and Bramshaw, horse riding at Ford Farm Stable in Brockenhurst, and The Motor Museum in Beaulieu. If you fancy venturing slightly further afield, the large town of Bournemouth is around a forty minute drive away or spend the day at Lymington, approximately a 25 minutes’ drive, where you can catch a ferry to the Isle of Wight or meander along the historic cobbled quay. For a glass of wine or a refreshing local ale after a busy day exploring, the New Forest Inn in Emery Down is a few moments stroll from the cottage.

This romantic self-catering cottage in the New Forest has traditional features and modern facilities adding to the idyllic and peaceful nature of the property. The bright open plan ground floor living area is complete with oak floors and wood burning stove, perfect for a cosy night in. The inviting farmhouse kitchen is equipped with all the essentials for a self-catering break with a dining table and stable door that leads to the garden. Upstairs is one bedroom with a double bed and one bathroom with a large shower and WC.

Outside there is easy parking in the little lane directly opposite the cottage, a fully enclosed back garden with valley views, patio with furniture for al fresco dining and bike storage.This property allows two small to medium sized dogs to stay, please contact owners if dog is a larger breed

Clares Cottage was a fantastic base for our Easter visit to the New Forest for us and our two dogs. The cottage has everything you need for your stay and is perfectly located for time in Emery Down and walking into Lyndhurst. Two good pubs are also nearby. Really loved the stay at Clares. Especially as they provided bowls and towels for dogs which was much appreciated. The fire was very welcome on a cold night, and the cottage was clean and cosy. We had a wonderful long weekend in this cosy cottage. The location was perfect for walking our dog, just a few minutes from the door to a footpath through the woods. In the other direction and almost as close, was a lovely dog friendly pub with excellent food. Very quiet and relaxing. We had a fantastic stay at Clare Cottage its a very quaint and lovely cottage, it is in a great location for walks in the forest and open areas to walk. There are two pubs in easy walking distance with great food. The village of Lyndhurst was a 15 minute walk away with lots of amenities and more pubs plus restaurants. The two of us are both in our eighties and we have a springer spaniel with us on holiday. We were comfortable and warm in fact we often switched off the heating because the cottage was so cosy. We intend to rebook for a return visit probably later in the year when the leaves are on the turn. The local pubs and local people were welcoming and helpfuRead morel and the food lovely. A wonderful cottage in a beautiful and quiet village with miles of countryside walks on the doorstep. I have stayed at Clares Cottage twice now, and both times it has been the perfect holiday base for myself and my dog. The garden is secure and the owners have thoughtfully provided for dogs. The cottage is very nicely kept and the layout is really good for two people. The back garden was perfect for our dog. Excellent Internet speeds and the freeview TV worked well. The forest paths (almost at your doorstep) are really beautiful and can be used for walks of anywhere from an hour to a day. I would have liked a higher garden fence so we are not over looked by the neighbours and missed the stable door as per the website. But these are minor points & wouldnt stop us returning.

Beautiful cottage for two people with more space than it appears in the photos. We really enjoyed our time here. The garden space is lovely, and it was nice to have somewhere to sit outside in the sun. It's a great location for cycling paths to various bits of the New Forest, and a very easy walk into Lyndhurst. 100% would go back again!

This was our second stay at Claire's Cottage and, once again we found it to be a perfect place in which to unwind and relax. The log burner created a warm and welcoming environment during a very wet weather stay.

What a find in the heart of New Forest. Delightful small cottage on 3 levels in Emery Down just outside Lyndhurst. It is only for 2 people -and in our case also our little dog- so was absolutely perfect for us. It is extremely well presented, clean and tidy.
