An idyllic cottage nestled on a quiet hillside with far reaching views across the Sugar Loaf Mountain from the South facing terrace. Set in the heart of the glorious Black Mountains, it's just a short drive from the market town of Abergavenny. With woodland trails, miles of National Park trails & plenty of country pubs it is the perfect get away from it all escape awaits.
Close to the natural border between England and Wales there are incredible walks and mountain bike trails right from the door with riding stables in the neighbouring valley for pony trekking. Historic castles, beautiful abbeys and ancient churches nearby, as well as the market town of Abergavenny within 15 minutes, famed for its food festival each September and Hay on Wye with its world famous literary festival each May. The Cathedral cities of Brecon and Hereford are within 35 minutes.
The accommodation offers THREE bedrooms: 1 super-king-size with en-suite shower and WC and 2 twins which can be easily made into super-kings. Bathroom: with shower over bath and WC. Lounge: with woodburner (first basket of logs included), TV and Blu-ray. Kitchen/diner: with range style double electric oven and gas hob, fridge, dishwasher, freezer, washer/dryer and woodburner. Outside: terrace with seating, BBQ and lawn. Amenities: parking for 3 cars. Bed linen, towels, electric, central heating and Wi-Fi included.
Additional Info: property is only suitable for 4 adults and 2 children aged 15 or below. One of the bedrooms is accessed by steep stone stairs which may not be suitable for the elderly or a guest with walking difficulties. Only dogs over 1 year old will be accepted.
Access - Please note: The track up to the cottage is very steep and may not be suitable for low sports cars.
Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.
SLEEPS 2 - 6 : Suitable for up to 4 adults + 2 children (15 yrs or below). Three super king-size bedrooms; gorgeous "room with a view" master bedroom with en-suite shower, and two further bedrooms, one of which will be set-up as a twin and the other a super-king double. Please notify Reservations at the time of booking if you would like these two bedrooms set-up differently. Beautiful Egyptian cotton bedding and towels provided.
RELAXING : Light, bright and stylish sitting room with large sofa, two armchairs, log burning stove, first basket of logs included, TV, DVD, Wi-Fi, local books, maps, armfuls of holiday reads and interior magazines…bliss!
COOKING & DINING : Handmade farmhouse kitchen with large range cooker, dishwasher, washer/dryer, large fridge/freezer and larder, microwave, essential cafetierre & teapot! Farmhouse dining table with a view, for six and log burning stove for keeping cosy.
KEEPING CLEAN : Upstairs family bathroom with roll top bath, over bath shower, basin and loo. En-suite shower room in the master bedroom. Towels included.
OUTSIDE : Fabulous views from the main terrace, which is south facing and quite a sun trap! Large solid fuel bbq (please provide your own fuel), outdoor furniture. The garden is stock fenced, beyond the lawn there is a rougher woodland area to the rear of the cottage which you are very welcome to explore. A further private terrace, perfect for morning coffee accessed via the main twin bedroom.

PETS : Two pooches are most welcome, downstairs only and paws off the furniture please! The kitchen with wood burner is perfect for drying off muddy paws and there is a tap is available outside. Only dogs over 1 year old will be accepted.
CHILDREN AND ELDERLY GUESTS : Children are really welcome at Croft Y Cwm - a highchair, travel cot and stair gate are available, please note that there are steep stone stairs which aren’t very toddler friendly. If you require a highchair, travel cot or stair gate, please request at the point of booking. Please note that elderly guests may also have trouble with the spiral stone staircase, so this cottage is not recommended for those with mobility issues.

ACCESS: The cottage is located 400 metres off the country lane at the top of a very steep driveway, it may not be suitable for low slung sports cars.
