This property is situated in the village of Bourton in North Dorset, a thriving village in the Stour Valley with a handy post office and pub. Three miles north of the village, is Stourhead, a beautiful Palladian house with spacious landscaped gardens which are lovingly maintained by the National Trust. For those who like to spend time exploring the local towns and browsing the shops, the towns of Shaftesbury and Bruton are both located within ten miles of the property, each with their own unique character and choice of pubs and cafes. Other attractions in the area surrounding the property include Longleat Safari Park, Stonehenge, Salisbury Cathedral, and Glastonbury Abbey.

Guests approach this single-storey property via a set of external steps, from which the front door opens onto the light-filled open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner where a wood burner creates a wonderfully cosy atmosphere. The lounge area, which looks out over the patio garden, has two comfortable armchairs, as well as Smart TV with access to Netflix. The dining table seats four, beyond which the kitchen area is equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, and dishwasher. The bedroom is a delightful king-size room with a bay window which overlooks the front of the property, whilst the shower room offers a shower and WC.

Outside, there is a private, patio garden to the rear of the property which is accessed through the patio doors in the living area. Garden furniture and a BBQ have been provided to allow guests to make the most of this area. Ample roadside parking.

A tasteful conversion of the former village shop. Clean, comfortable and homely. It is well equipped and the owners thoughtfully provided welcoming refreshments Particularly liked the small courtyard garden.

A return visit to this comfortable and welcoming cottage which had all we needed for a relaxing break in this lovely part of the country. On arrival we enjoyed the tea with home made scones, jam and cream.

Beautifully renovated and spotlessly clean. Comfortable bed and every convenience. Quiet and restful and just a short walk to a small shop and 15 minutes to a wonderful pub. Cream tea was a lovely welcome!

We felt welcome as soon as we walked through the front door and saw the delicious cream tea. The Old Shop is thoughtfully furnished, well equipped and very clean. Add walks from the door, a lovely pub ten minutes stroll up the road and the proximity of Stourhead and other attractions and what more could we want for a relaxing break.
