Its all about the location, which places you opposite the convenience of the hotel and its bar. Peaceful and restful location with a great view.

Lovely location at Bucklers Hard Hotel - but be aware you are on the grounds of a working museum site. On Monday and Thursday morning, there was a hive of activity from 7.30 through to 10.30 - lawn services, tractors going up & down gravel. Not great for holiday sleep-ins!! good pub -The Yachtsman-on site but this is the only eatery within 30min waRead morelk (to Beaulieu) or 10/15min drive to the local villages. We would recommend the Royal Oak Pub, just outside Beaulieu too. Watch out for the stairs! Hide

We loved our stay at The Shipwrights and the modern facilities I.e. beds linen towels hot water shower etc all to the high standard of The Master Builders. The atmosphere of the cottage just wonderful and the garden and river walks and privacy just what we had hoped for as we know the area very well and hope to come again.

Nice place to stay lovely area the city had the basics but just not modern enough For the price Comfortable stay Nice enclosed garden. Owners need to modernise the interiors as very dated Beware the stair case wont be for elderly very steep and bends.

A fantastic location & lovely walk to Beaulieu on the doorstep. Secure garden perfect for the dog. Booked principally for access to Southampton Hospital, rather than a "holiday" venue. It was perfect for that. However as a holiday cottage (compared to others used) disappointing. A lovely quirky small cottage, 5 adults might struggle to use it comfoRead morertably. The kitchen is small and poorly equipped although good restaurant and pub on site. Overall not best value for money but served its purpose. Hide

The cottage was lovely and clean and warm when we arrived. Perfect place to stay and explore the area. Our dogs loved the long daily walks. This is perfect for couples. With the pub and restaurant just across from the cottages. With no washing machine I think young families may struggle

Despite the shortcomings relating to the arrangement of the accommodation, awkward stairs, and lack of equipment/TV problems etc. this is an historic property/location and access to the river, woodlands and the Yachtman's bar are positives. We would stay again.
