Set in an idyllic hamlet on the borders of Powys and Shropshire, this stunning detached barn conversion offers superb uninterrupted rural views and is a romantic, tranquil and secluded haven.
 

This beautiful cottage nestles in a paradise for keen walkers and cyclists, with a superb choice of foot paths and trails to explore. You can discover the Ceiriog Valley, Tanat Valley and Shropshire Hills, or navigate the 177 miles of Offa’s Dyke, and see The Pistyll ,a dramatic 240 foot waterfall in Llanrhaedr which is the tallest single drop waterfall in the UK. There are plenty of pretty villages dotted around the area including Llansilin and Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, with a choice of excellent pubs, cafes and restaurants. The ancient market town of Oswestry offers a unique range of shops, eateries, galleries, events and a host of attractions to enjoy. There are National Trust properties nearby including Erddig, Chirk and Powis Castles.

On entering this attractive property, which was imaginatively restored in 2016 and which retains plenty of original features, including exposed beams, and which offers great views from every window, you will find yourself in the cosy and traditional open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The snug and welcoming lounge is an ideal space to relax in, with comfortable seating, tasteful furnishing, Smart TV and a traditional wood burner. You will also find a charming dining area, and the stylishly designed kitchen is fully equipped with everything you may need including electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and washing machine. Heading up to the first floor, you will find a cosy and spacious super king-size. There is also a wet room, complete with shower and WC.

Stepping outside, you can relax at the end of a fantastic day and admire the glorious rural views from the enclosed garden, with patio, lawn, furniture and BBQ. Off-road parking is available for 2 cars.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

We had a lovely holiday at Border Retreat and could not fault it. Very comfortable, quiet and peaceful. Stunning location to just sit and admire the view. Lovely walks straight from the cottage door. Ideal base for a couple with pets.

We have just returned from a fabulous week staying at Border Retreat. The cottage is cosy, well equipped with a huge comfortable bed. The views are breathtaking and the dog friendly garden was perfect for our lab and spaniel who spent hours watching the sheep and rabbits safely! Our stay at Boarder Retreat was just perfect for a week away from it all in a fabulous location. Perched on top of a beautiful valley with amazing views over farm land and a haven for wildlife. A warm, charming cottage set in a stunning location. Friendly greeting from the owners having arrived following excellent route description. The area is a must for walkers and it was a real bonus to be able to do some excellent walks from the house. The location was unbeatable,absolutely stunning. The cottage provided most of home comfort. It was clean and well presented. It was nice to meet the owner and appreciate the visit from him. We wouldn't hesitate a return visit. There is nothing negative to say about the cottage. It provided everything needed for the holiday of your choice.

Clean, comfortable and very relaxing. Fantastic views and great local walks (an excellent selection of maps and routes at the cottage), although you will have to be fit to take them on. We had a lovely time and the dogs loved it too, spending a considerable amount of time viewing the surrounding wildlife. Beautiful cottage in a fantastic location. You can really tell the property was built with love and care. Great for dogs and some fantastic walks from the doorstep. Wet room shower had great pressure and the heating was fast and reliable. Fire was lovely when returning from wet wintery walks. Will definitely stay again!!!!

Our second stay at this delightful cottage. It is the perfect size for us two and our two dogs. If its peace, quite and isolation from the din of modern life you are after, this is the cottage for you. The location of Border Retreat is just wonderful. If you're looking for a full-on getaway this is the place. The quiet is extraordinary. And the views, even on a cloudy day, are beautiful. The cottage is cosy, the bed huge and comfy and the surrounding area interesting to explore by foot or car.

Quirky detached cottage, ideal for getting away from it all. Setting and view fabulous, surrounded by fields, sheep. 11/2 mile from main road so seldom any other traffic. Log burner efficient. Table and chairs out side great to sit and have a coffee and watch the country side.
