Stylishly restored in 2017 this beautiful barn conversion is situated in the rural village of Melbury Abbas amid glorious Dorset countryside, boasting countryside views from the accommodation and gardens.

Situated in the heart of Dorset’s beautiful landscape of rolling hills and open farmland affording wonderful walking, there are a network of footpaths directly from the property. The area offers a wealth of pretty villages, sandy beaches and a coastline which has world heritage status. The pretty market town of Shaftesbury, which itself is home to Gold Hill, known to many as “Hovis Hill” as it was used in the 70’s television adverts for Hovis bread, is 5 minutes away. The popular seaside resorts of Poole, Bournemouth and Weymouth are worth a visit. Other attractions include Hayes Motor Museum, Longleat House and Safari Park, the beautiful gardens at Stourhead House, Salisbury Cathedral, Yeovilton Air Arm Museum and Monkey World.

Entering the property from the private terrace you are met by the charming galley kitchen, which leads to the beautiful open-plan lounge/diner with oak flooring and exposed beams. Here you can cosy up in front the wood burner and watch the Smart TV or your favourite DVD. The lounge/diner leads to the well-equipped kitchen with an electric oven and hob, Lavassa coffee machine, microwave, fridge with ice compartment, washing machine and door to the private terrace. There is also an separate WC conveniently located on this floor too. Heading upstairs you will find a king-size bedroom with TV and en-suite bathroom with shower over bath and WC. This beautiful king-size bedroom has character features including exposed stonework and beams, it also boasts countryside views from the large dormer window which can be enjoyed with a morning coffee on the cosy sofa.

Venturing outside you will find a private terrace directly outside the kitchen door, perfect for outside dining with garden furniture and a BBQ and a beautiful wood fired hot tub for two. There are large shared gardens all enjoying the fabulous countryside views. Have fun in the shared open sided games barn with table tennis and table football. Ample off-road parking is available in the gravelled parking area.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Perfect short break with our Cockerpoo puppy. Loki loved the Grounds and all the walks on the doorstep. The hot tub was exceptional (once we sussed out the log burner) Far nicer than the newer Plastic ones. Lovely Cottage with everything you need to cook Dinner, relax and enjoy the weekend. Beautiful cottage with everything you could possibly require for a comfortable and cosy break. The hot tub was wonderful on a chilly evening! We took our dog and enjoyed some amazing walks, especially the Melbury Beacon which is right on your doorstep. Shaftesbury is quaint with some lovely pubs and cute shops. We had a wonderful time.

Delightful, quiet setting with lovely surroundings and views. The cottage was everything I hoped for and more; spotlessly clean with quality fittings throughout and just a wonderful place to relax. Thoroughly enjoyed walking around Shaftesbury and the wonderful snowdrop festival was great.

We thoroughly recommend this beautiful property set in incredible surroundings. Quality fixtures and fittings, log burner and hot tub are fantastic. Views are fantastic, quiet and relaxing but only 5 minutes away from Shaftesbury.

We had a perfect break at curwens. I cannot recommend it enough, the cottage was beautiful - perfect for dog owners as there is a fully enclosed small garden, a larger one behind and also miles of countryside opposite which you just cross a very quiet lane and from there is completely safe for off lead walking. We have a one year old and the hosts Read moregave us a stair gate for the stairs and fire, which made it child friendly and took the stress off us which was great. Hide

We stayed over New Years and had an amazing 2 day break. The cottage was really cozy and very well equipped and the hot tub is a fantastic feature. The location is stunning overlooking Melbury Hill and we really enjoyed the walk to Shaftesbury.

We loved our long weekend here at No 1 Curwens. The cottage is one of best we have stayed at. We went with the idea of not using the hot tub, but after talking to Hannah we decided to give it a go. Sitting in the tub, the smell of the wood burner, the sound of the local wildlife and the frosty evening was fantastic. Will definitely return soon

Had a lovely 4 day break here the accomadation was definately 5 Star from the amenities to the decor. Very spacious bedroom/living area the hosts were very friendly and helpful and do a fantastic job maintaining the grounds. The views from every window are great and being able to relax in a hot tub looking out onto the countryside was superb. Had sRead moreome nice evenings with a couple of BBQs on the patio area. Very clean and well presented cottage with lots of room for the two of us. The owners were very welcoming and helpful when needed. We visited in October when it was quiet. As there are several properties all together with play barn and a large grassy area this is an ideal spot for families but may not necessarily be a quiet retreat for a couple in Read morethe summer months.
