Property code: CC016

Located on a farm in the grounds of the 12th century Clattercote Priory, surrounded by horse paddocks, it’s the very definition of rural idyll. The village of Clattercote is close by, which is at the centre of the historic-cultural triangle of Oxford, Warwick and Stratford-upon-Avon (all within a 30-minute drive). For local shops and entertainment, Banbury is about six miles away too, and features an array of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as Spiceball Country Park and a leisure centre with indoor swimming pool. Other top visitor attractions in the area include Blenheim Palace, Warwick Castle, Sulgrave Manor, Heritage Motor Museum and more.

On arrival at the properties you will notice that both accommodations have similar open-plan layouts. The lounge areas have ample comfortable seating, each with a TV. In the first cottage, you will see that the original fireplace and huge chimney breast have been retained as well as the old bread oven. The kitchen areas are well-equipped with an electric oven and hob, a dishwasher, a washer/ dryer, and a microwave. Also on the ground floor of the first cottage there are two double bedrooms, and in the second just one double. In both cottages, there is a bathroom on the ground floor that contains a shower over bath and WC. Upstairs there is a double bed on the mezzanine overlooking the living area below too, please note the stairs are steep. There is also a fold up bed available for an eleventh visitor (please book ahead). There is no internal connection between the cottages.

Outside, there is a terrace and the large garden accessed from the house via French doors – ideal for the kids and dogs (please note, there are some friendly resident dogs). The garden area is enclosed from the farm but not from each cottage so this arrangement works well when the two cottages are booked together for a family gathering. Garden furniture and BBQs are provided too for evening cookouts, and guests are welcome to wander through the grounds – the owners ask that you take note that there is a pond near to the main house.

The two cottages were booked together as one for a family weekend away - including our four dogs - to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary. The Taylor family were excellent hosts, and their cottages were beautiful. The garden for the cottages was massive - a fab bonus for the dogs - and the comfortable rooms were very well-equipped. The nearby viRead morellages had dog-friendly pubs that served delicious meals that were perfect for our celebrations, and Banbury itself has everything you could want. Hide

These two cottages are beautiful. We went with my elderly parents, four dogs and my two children, their partners and grandson. The dogs absolutely loved the secure rear garden and it was a perfect set up for everyone to get together but also for my parents to have some time away from the hubub! The weather was very hot, so we didn't travel about. WRead moree just enjoyed the looking at the countryside, birds and horses. I'd definitely recommend a stay. Hide

Have a lovely stay in the cottages over Easter. The location, space, and size were perfect for our mixed extended family group - we celebrated our parent's 50th wedding anniversary and the space worked perfectly - being together but apart. The cottages were well presented, clean, and the bed's comfortable, the outside space perfect for the two dogsRead more we had with us. We found The Light in Banbury a perfect day out for the kids. Would highly recommend it. Hide

We had a great weekend as a family and a group of friends across both cottages. We had everything we needed to cook and the village of Cropredy had a great shop and pubs and was a nice walk away down the canal - just the right length for our 6 year old.
