Tucked away, this inspiring holiday cottage is a great place to spend your Cotswolds holiday. It’s both cosy with lots of garden space for relaxation.

The small village of Stretton-on-Fosse touches the Gloucestershire/Warwickshire border and a short drive from The Fosse Way but far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet, making it a good base to tour the Cotswolds. There’s a good choice of fabulous local walks so bring the dog, they’ll love it. Many National Trust properties and gardens are on the doorstep including Hidcote Manor a short drive away. Drive to Moreton-in-Marsh train station for a leisurely journey to Oxford or London not forgetting the beautiful cathedral city of Hereford at the other end of the line.

On arrival at the property you will find a useful entrance hall for wellies and coats. The lounge/diner is very welcoming with ample seating, a TV/DVD/video. There is also a dining table with space for four diners. The spacious kitchen looks out into the garden and comes equipped with a brand new electric hob and oven, a microwave, washing machine and a fridge/freezer. Upstairs are the bedrooms, a double and a twin. Nearby is a bathroom with a shower over the bath, and WC for convenience.

Outside is a lovely, fenced, partially decked garden to the rear that has been landscaped to create a restful retreat with furniture, ideal for an early morning cup of tea. To the rear of the cottage is open countryside and to the front lies an open grassed area with private allocated parking opposite the front door.

The cottage has lovely original features and a well equipped kitchen. Dinning table and beds were suitable and comfortable. However, lounge furniture could due with replacing.

We enjoyed our stay at Fir Tree Cottage very much. The accommodation was comfortable and was well equipped. The village is quiet with good walks in the area. There is a good pub in the village but no other amenities although Moreton in Marsh is only a short drive away.

The cottage is absolutely beautiful, in a perfect tranquil sleepy village. It is perfectly quiet away from any main roads. It was so nice to sit at the tables and chairs in the garden and just listen to the nature, away from modern life. Myself and my wife felt privileged and were sad to leave at the end. A nice enough cottage in a lovely village but lack of logs (enough for a very small short fire) when the fire is the main source of heating.
