Property code: CC044

This quintessentially English chocolate box thatched cottage has roses round the door and ducks on the stream outside the garden gate!

Located in the beautiful unspoilt Buckinghamshire countryside, the quiet village of Lillingstone Lovell has changed very little over the years. The cottage looks out to the stream and fields beyond with few interruptions to the gorgeous view, the only break to the quiet are the village church bells and birdsong. On the border of North Buckinghamshire not far from Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon and the Cotswolds; it’s also within driving distance from Milton Keynes for great shopping and entertainment, such as sports facilities, cinemas, restaurants and night clubs. Silverstone Race Circuit is a few miles away, or chill out at nearby Whittlebury Hall Spa - golf or pampering.

A perfect place to unwind from hectic life or for that special occasion, this Grade II listed cottage dates back to around 1650 with an inglenook fireplace and log burner, low ceilings and oak beams. This cosy and welcoming cottage impresses on arrival. You will find a lovely welcome pack and marvel at the large open hearth with wood burner. The lounge/diner has a dining table with room for two and ample comfy seating to relax on at the end of a long day’s touring. There is also a Sky TV/DVD and CD player to unwind in front of. The kitchen is inviting and comes well-equipped with an electric oven and hob, a microwave, a washing machine, ,and a fridge/freezer. A tumble dryer is also available for use.  Also on the ground-floor is a bathroom with a shower over bath and WC. On the first floor the spacious double bedroom is accessed via steep stairs, and has the 'wow' factor with masses of character that encompasses a vaulted ceiling featuring willow beams and the string that held the thatch together; simplistic compared to today's engineering but the excellent workmanship keeps this lovely cottage as it has always been. It also boasts views of the village church.

Outside, the garden is full of flowers and borders, and a BBQ, making it the perfect place to enjoy an evening after exploring the local area. There is handy off-road parking for one car too.

From the first minute we arrived everything was just right. The cottage is over 400 years old so has some quirky things about it .Low beams etc but its lovely. It is in the middle of the countryside in a very small hamlet . The owner lives next door and provides a very good service such as breakfast cereal milk jam eggs etc .There is also wood for Read morethe fire and coal if needed. Hide

My husband and I spent a truly magical and cosy Christmas in this cottage. Jane had gone "the extra mile" to provide many thoughtful and festive touches. The cottage is very well equipped in every room and the kitchen, so you do not need to take "the kitchen sink" like I did! This thatched cottage comes up to all one's expectations and hopes.

Id make people aware that steep stairs are involved; we were ok but some others might not be. Welcome basket was very complete and appreciated! Cottage exceeded the photos on the website!
