This beautiful lodge situated in a raised position overlooking the River Cocker is the ideal place to unwind after a day exploring the wonders of the Lake District and surrounding areas.

Located on the outskirts of the beautiful town of Cockermouth, famed for being the birth place of William Wordsworth, his home is open to the public. Less than a 10-minute drive away you reach the Lake District National Park, you can explore the wonders that the lakes has to offer, from hiring a boat on Derwentwater to hiking up a mountain or just exploring the Solway Coast and all that the area has to offer. Within the town of Cockermouth, you have a variety of pubs, restaurants and shops to explore making this lodge ideally situated for your visit. You can try your hand at fishing for salmon and trout  in the River Cocker directly in front of the lodge just obtain a permit, you can even watch the ponies and sheep as they graze in the adjoining field, a small play area is available for children.  

Entering the lodge to a lovely light and bright lounge/kitchen/diner with windows looking out across the river, the kitchen area is equipped with a gas oven and hob, microwave and fridge/freezer. The lounge area is spacious and comfortable with a sofa and chairs, TV/DVD and CD. The dining table has seating for four and is adjacent to the kitchen area. Leading from the lounge you can access a separate WC further down the hall and then you have the wet room with shower and WC. At the end of hallway, you have a single bedroom which can double up as a play room leading onto the double bedroom and the twin.

Outside of the lodge you have a large decked area with table and chairs and a BBQ. There is a wonderful view on offer looking across to the river. Off-road parking for two cars is available at the side of the lodge.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Charles has learning difficulties and can struggle with mobility. Ease of movement around the house was great, particularly with a walk in shower. Charles instantly fell in love with the place, situated by the river overlooking a meadow with sheep, lots of birds and several ponies. Eric, the owner was such a lovely man. We loved our stay. It is a great place for a base and lovely riverside walk into Cockermouth. We were made very welcome. We enjoyed watching the little ponies and sheep walking past our windows. A very quite location.

The cottage was lovely and clean. My daughter would have loved wifi but that's just a teenager thing :)) Lovely setting as well. Owner was very pleasant too.

The lodge is very well situated for exploring the North West Lakes and Cockermouth. Great walks round Crummock Water, Buttermere, Catbells etc. Eric Lowes, the owner, is a delight and made us so welcome. The location by the River Cocker provide some lovely walks. We had a wonderful week.

Extremely friendly and helpful host. Nothing is too much trouble and a font of local knowledge. Warm cosy basic property for people with accessibility problems set in beautiful quiet surroundings.
