This spacious and stylish detached barn sits in an elevated position, on the edge of Weare Giffard. Nestled beside the River Torridge and tucked alongside the original farmhouse it’s surrounded by adjoining fields.

Take a stroll downhill towards the river or a little further into the pretty village of Weare Giffard, which boasts a traditional village pub serving local ales and food, cricket green and a park with a children’s play area. The immediate area is also a perfect spot for walkers, with woodland walks and easy access to the Tarka Trail, where you can enjoy traffic-free walking and cycling. Just a short drive away, visit Westward Ho!, with two miles of golden sands. The nearby town of Bideford also offers shops, pubs, restaurants and day trips to Lundy Island.

On entering the grade II listed barn, you will be greeted by a large open-plan kitchen/diner, it’s not only stylish but well-equipped with granite worktops, a electric range oven and induction hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. The utility area has a washing machine. The dining area has plenty of space for dining, or relax on the sofas and window seat while listening to the music system or playing board games. There are a couple of shallow steps that lead down to a large super-king-size zip-and-link bedroom (which can be made up as a twin on request) with large built in wardrobes and TV/DVD. There is a large bathroom with bath, separate shower and WC. Also on the ground floor is a twin zip-and-link bedroom (which can be made into a super-king-size on request) and a wet room with shower and WC. Heading up the oak staircase to the large lounge area with wood burner, comfy sofas, TV/DVD and superb views across the river. Also a further bedroom can be found on this floor, which is a double with exposed beams and country views and a separate shower room with shower and WC.

Heading outside from the French door, there is a patio area with seating perfect for alfresco dining. A large lawn area has a picnic table enjoying views or nighttime stargazing. There is off-road parking for three cars.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

We have been visiting Salterns Barn for over four years, this was our 13th visit and 3rd this year. It is our Devon home from home. The barn is in a unique location and extremely well equipped. Looking forward to our next stay.

Salterns Barn is a fabulous thoughtfully laid-out property in a quiet and peaceful location with lovely views and was the perfect venue to celebrate a special event with our family. We had a very good holiday & appreciate the high standard of the barn .However we were disappointed to discover that the shower was not working in one bathroom. we rang the no. for maintenance & was told that we should have been informed of this as it had been known for some time which was even more disappointing.

Location is perfect for visiting North Devon area. Very peaceful. Superbly equipped kitchen and comfortable bedrooms. Phone signal in area is poor and wifi very slow which doesn't help when you are googling places/restaurants to visit. Dog friendly but dogs not allowed upstairs where living room is. We therefore tended to stay downstairs which is pRead morelenty big enough but has no TV. Only one bedroom had a hairdryer so if you are part of a large group you'd have to bring one with you. Hide

We had a great holiday at Salterns Barn. The barn itself is beautiful and was ideal for us. It's well equipped and we all enjoyed the very comfortable beds. Lots of good walks in the area. We particularly enjoyed a walk from the door right through the village and pausing at the Cyder Press pub for coffee and goodies.
