Situated in the hamlet of Far Sawrey, this pleasant, detached cottage is just a five-minute drive from the pretty village of Hawkshead, with its numerous National Trust properties and ‘higgledy-piggeldy’ streets and chocolate box cottages. An easy distance away is the beautiful Lake Windermere, arguably one of the UK’s most picturesque locations. Around the lake there are plenty of places from which to catch boat cruises, hire boats, take a windsurfing lesson. Why not try your hand at paddle-boarding? For those who prefer to stay on dry land, there are plentiful opportunities for scenic walks, climbing, and cycling.
This beautiful cottage has been lovingly converted from two smaller cottages in to one spacious holiday home sleeping seven guests. The owners have combined old world charm, with modern comforts creating a welcoming home from home. The front door of the cottage leads guests straight into the spacious dining room with its cosy wood burner and dining table. The kitchen is next to the dining room and has an Aga-style oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, and dishwasher. The washer/dryer and a freezer can be found in a separate utility room. Adjoining the kitchen is the light and airy breakfast room with windows on 3 sides overlooking the garden. Off the dining room there is a downstairs bathroom with a bath with over the bath shower. The lounge next to the dining room. This charming room with the original range with open fire and bread oven, a TV and DVD which make this room a lovely place to relax at the end of the day. There are two staircases leading to the first floor, one at either end of the house. The staircase at the lounge end of the house leads to two bedrooms, a double and a single, as well as a bathroom with shower and WC. At the opposite side of the house, a second set of stairs leads to the other two rooms, this time a double and a twin.
Outside, the property has a south-facing private garden with lawns and a patio seating area. There is also a stream running along the bottom of the garden which has a steep sides, so children will need to be carefully supervised.
