Our family with two boisterous boys and a large viszla had an excellent experience at the Lodge. The location meant we could easily get to the lake on the secluded side and visit some wonderful national trust properties. The Lodge is a delightful cottage in a beautiful position. Spacious and well equipped with a large, enclosed garden that is perfect for dog owners. We thoroughly enjoyed our weeks stay. It is well placed for visiting all the places of interest around Windermere and beyond.

This cottage was a lovely place to stay with two dogs in comfort. It was an easy 10 minute walk down to the path around Windermere Lake and walking round to Castle Wray was a gentle 1 -2 hour walk around the lake. The garden is a lovely size, with plenty of outdoor seating and was lovely and quiet.

A very interesting house in a beautiful setting with a big garden which is safely enclosed and which our dog loved. It's only a short walk down to Lake Windermere with walks in at least three directions once you reach the shore . A perfect place for a restful holiday. The team in Hawkshead are friendly and helpful. Highly recommended

Overall we had a good week but we feel that the cottage needs some TLC in several areas. It was in a remote location which was nice and it was an easy walk to the shore of Lake Windermere and Wray Castle.

We loved the quiet location of the cottage, with a nice circular stroll down to the lake, along the waterfront, and then back up across the fields to the village. The kitchen was fabulous, well-equipped, and spacious, and we all enjoyed the roll top bath in the evenings. The only two downsides for us were that the cold water pressure was very poor,Read more particularly in the evenings, making the shower very difficult to use, and the main living room smelt very strongly of dogs. Fabulous location on the quieter side of Lake Windermere and Wray Castle, very close to the lake with great local walks. The cottage is comfy, homely and well equipped. Perfect cottage and location for peace and quiet. Car is a necessity to see the local villages. Walks are great from the cottage to the lake, quite steep in places, correct boots are an essential. Dogs loved it, the garden was amazing and enclosed. Beautiful views and scenery. Would definitely recommend and will be going back.
