Attractive semi-detached cottage with expansive gardens, on the edge of the stunning Grizedale forest, just a short drive from both Coniston Water and Lake Windermere.

If you are looking for somewhere to enjoy an active family break, then look no further, this cottage is in the perfect location to try out many of the activities that the Lakeland region has to offer. A short woodland stroll from the property brings guests to the Grizedale Forest visitor centre, where they will find a playground, café, cycling routes, a Go-Ape high ropes centre and info on the forest. Both Lake Windermere and Coniston water, two of the region’s best known lakes, are less than eight miles away and give the visitors chance to try their hand at various water sports, or perhaps take a pleasure cruise if they are looking for a more restful experience.

Entering the cottage, guests will be able to leave their boots on the porch before entering the spacious hallway, close by is the lounge/diner, with its comfortable seating, dining table, wood burner-effect electric fire, TV, DVD, and hi-fi. The kitchen is situated to the rear of the property and is equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, and fridge, whilst the washing machine and freezer can be found in a separate utility room, next to which is a convenient ground-floor shower room with WC. To the first floor, there are three tastefully decorated bedrooms: a double, a twin and a single. The main bathroom is also on the first floor and has a shower over the bath and WC.

Outside, the property has wonderfully spacious gardens, mainly set to lawn, with a small patio area, ideal for sitting back with a drink and watching the children play. The garden is fully enclosed, but there is a stile on one edge, which allows guests to access the woodland which lies beyond the grounds. There is ample parking available for three cars adjacent to cottage.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

We visited for New Year and thought this a lovely cottage, warm and practical with places for wet clothes and boots, parking for 3 good size cars if you're canny, 2 good showers, and a place to store a few bikes. Lovely walking up Wetherlam and Coniston as the closest larger hills, and biking from the door in the forest or to Claife Heights and WraRead morey Castle. This cottage is situated in a lovely forest area perfect for walking the dog and river paddles for the children. It has everything you need for your visit. Hawkshead isn't far away and has a lovely selection of pubs and shops. We highly recommend a visit to the Red Lion and the coop which is open daily till 10pm. If you are looking for days out we Read morevisit the trains, boats, which also has an aquarium (lakeside), motor museum, brockhole for treetop nets and the south lakes safari zoo. Hide

This holiday cottage is in a great location for mountain biking with easily accessible trails. We also enjoyed walking and exploring Lake Windermere and Coniston. It is in lovely and quiet forest setting. The furnishings are a bit tired.

Great location, really good areas for dog walking. The cottage was comfortable, just a couple of things needing updating, namely the settees and garden furniture, but this did not detract from a very enjoyable holiday.

Overall the cottage is in a excellent location, very close to Grizedale Forest centre with it's extensive bike and walking trails. The cottage is cosy and warm and very well equipped.

The cottage is warm, cosy and spacious. It is ideally situated if you wish to explore Grizedale Forest on foot or bicycle, with a good MTB single-track trail, which can be accessed almost directly from the cottage. There is a secure outhouse, in which we were able to store 3 adult and 1 child bikes. Ample parking for 2 'family' sized cars.

Me and mine had a wonderful stay at The Kennels ...tucked away on a private road ..it's a roomy ....comfortable snug and warm..home from home ...the outside fab for your four legged family members ..had a lovely four days here ..wonderful place .

Lovely cottage that actually is larger than pictures show. Great location for mountain biking, Go Ape in the forest all on the doorstep. Cottage is on a private road so extremely quiet. Nearby Hawkshead has all the amenities needed.
