This tasteful cottage is ideally situated in the popular village of Hawkshead, with numerous notable attractions, and walks to ramble.

There is a choice of pubs in the village, home to the Beatrix Potter Gallery and the grammar school where William Wordsworth was once a pupil. Hawkshead also has a selection of interesting shops and plenty of places to eat out. The village enjoys a prime location at the heart of the region, with both Lake Windermere and Coniston being a short drive away. Not to be missed is a visit to Claife Viewing Station, just a ten-minute drive away, a purpose-built viewing platform which offers majestic views over Lake Windermere.

Entering through the side-porch of the property, guests will come to the first of two living areas: the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. This room has a contemporary feel and has deep, comfortable sofas from which to watch the TV or simply relax in front of the wood burner. The dining table seats six and is situated by the French windows which lead out to the garden. The kitchen is well-equipped with an oven, electric hob, microwave, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. A second, separate lounge at the front of the property looks out over a neighbouring fields and has an open fire, comfortable seating, TV, and DVD. There is also a WC on the ground floor. On the first floor, guests will find three bedrooms: a double, a twin, and a single room. The bathroom is also on the first floor, and benefits from both a bath and separate shower, as well as a WC.

Outside, there is an enclosed garden with a patio area with table and chairs, where guests can enjoy al fresco dining. There is off-road parking for two cars as well as bike storage.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

A very well appointed cottage for a family of an excellent standard. It is ideally placed for a two minute walk into the centre of Hawkshead but in a peaceful location. It is very comfortable.

Applerigg is just the perfect place for a holiday; spacious accommodation at the rear and a cosy lounge at the front. A contemporary kitchen and bathroom, and period features in other rooms throughout, it really is a lovely property. A two-minute walk into Hawkshead it is perfectly placed for the Lakes. Applerigg was the perfect base for our week in the Lake District. It was comfortable, spacious and clean. It was well equipped with everything we needed and was in a great location - ideal for a stroll into Hawkshead and for walking, both directly from the cottage and further afield.

Applerigg was the nicest holiday cottage we have ever stayed in. However the garden is not fully enclosed for dogs with just a low wall. Our car broke down on our way up and the girls from the office were amazing. They called/arranged a garage for recovery to take us to and then collected us and luggage long after hours, taking us to our cottage. DRead moreespite this we had a wonderful week. Great cottage, with a quiet location, yet very handy for the short walk into the village for pubs and dining out. Good dog-friendly pubs several of which allow dogs in the bar area when eating out. Easy access to country walks straight from the cottage, 3 miles to Wray Castle which is on the shore of Windermere. Ambleside, Coniston and lake WindermRead moreere are all within easy driving distance. It's great place to stay. Hide
