This property enjoys a stunning location at the heart of the Lake District, with the village of Hawkshead, famous for its connections to William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter, just 1.5 miles away. There are several National Trust properties here, as well as shops and pubs. The larger town of Ambleside is around a fifteen-minute drive away and is the departure point for a number of popular cruises on Lake Windermere. The location of the property means that it is a wonderful base for anyone who wants to make the most of the regions walking routes and there are even walks directly from the cottage itself. Nearby Coniston water is a great place for visitors to try their hand at a range of water sports, including paddle-boarding, canoeing, windsurfing and rowing.

This beautiful property makes a wonderful base to return to after a busy day of sightseeing, walking, climbing or water sports, offering a restful countryside retreat. On entering the property, guests come immediately to the stylish and sunny kitchen/diner which is well-equipped with an oven, hob, fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher, A kitchen island offers a great place to prepare meals, perhaps whilst watching the TV. The dining area, at the far end of this room, is especially light, as it surrounded by windows on three sides. Just off from this room, guests will find a separate utility room, with a WC, washer, and tumble dryer. The lounge has some lovely original features, including the beamed ceiling and stone fireplace, which now houses a cosy wood burner. Comfortable chairs and sofas here make it a great place to relax whilst watching the TV and DVD. To the first floor of the property, there are three bedrooms. Two of these are double rooms, each with its own TV/DVD and en-suite shower room with WC. The third bedroom is an attractive twin room. The main bathroom, which is also on the first floor, has a shower over the bath and WC.

Outside, the property has a good-sized garden which benefits from both patio and lawn areas, beyond which the property also has ownership of an extended area of land with trees. It is even possible to follow the path straight from the property into the nearby village of Hawkshead. A thoughtful additional feature out here is a convenient drying room where guests can leave their walking clothes and shoes to dry out. The property’s eco credentials include a ground source heat pump and solar panels which together keep the cottage lovely and warm, no matter the temperature outside.

We have stayed in many of your properties over the past 25 years and Ben Fold is right at the top of my list. It was well maintained, everything worked and very well equipped. It was cosy and warm, and a beautiful fully enclosed garden, which was perfect of our dogs. I'd highly recommend Ben Fold and will definitely rebook in the very near future.

Would he useful to have a manual to explain certain things. For example recycling. We didn't know where the bin for recycling was so I had to leave glass and cardboard in the kitchen.

Lovely cottage in a nice location but simple everyday items like ice packs & bin liners were not provided. Website states wood burner with fuel supplied however there were 6 logs to last a week so be prepared. Disappointed in the way some issues were handled by customer service. On a positive note, very comfortable sitting room & clean beds.

We enjoyed our stay at Ben Fold and it is a great location to start lots of low level walks. The cottage was well equipped and had everything that was needed to make our stay comfortable. Instructions for electricals were very clear and we made good use of the washing machine, tumble dryer and drying room due to wet weather. Ben Fold is a superb cottage. It is warm, well equipped and cosy. The drying room is a super addition and so handy after long wet walks! The location is great - Coniston and Helvellyn are only 15 mins away, the Langdale Valley is in easy reach too. Definitely to be recommended.

Ben Fold is a fantastic cottage overlooking farms, fields and water - on the less busy side of Lake Windermere! With a wood stove and modern features all tucked into a Lakes Cottage - it is a perfect place to spend a quiet holiday!

Charming period cottage in great location with original features -low beams and quirky staircase - but also incorporates great detached boot/drying room. Bathrooms are good with modern fittings. Garden is lovely with patio for outside dining. Cottage is a little tired in areas and would benefit from a refresh and more attention from the cleaning teRead moream. A nice cottage but disapointed on arrival as kitchen table still had crumbs on it floor and bin dirty .the beds were comfortable and bedding nice and clean Although one of the double beds did not have a mattress protector on The iron looked like it had been dropped and taped up with white tape which when water was added it all came poring out the bRead moreottom this was reported as not safe The two tellys upstairs were not tuned in so pointless gave up trying All this aside a lovely week . Overall we had a good stay at the cottage. However it is looking a bit tired in places. The bathrooms are lovely. As are the views from back bedroom. Garden is huge but not secure for letting dogs off the lead. Walk into village is pleasant and views are great. Would recommend the fish n chip shop and the little ice cream shop in the village. Ideal location with good facilities for 3 couples. Great showers. Sunny kitchen/diner. Wood burner great as the evenings cooled down. Nice garden and sitting out areas for enjoying the sunshine and listening to the song birds. Would have been even nicer if the hedge was lower to see what would be a beautiful view.

A very well equipped, comfortable and cosy property in a lovely area of the Lake District. Benfold is attractive and well placed for some beautiful walks, good pubs and trips on the Lakes.

Enjoyed staying here. Log fires and drying room v useful. Cleanliness could be improved. We were there during a v wet spell. Bedding always felt cold and slightly damp despite attempting to air the room - electric blankets would help.
