Former police station, situated at the heart of the attractive village of Hawkshead with its numerous National Trust properties, shops, and pubs.

This property is perfect for those who want to be within walking distance of local amenities in one of the Lake District’s most attractive villages. There are plenty of places to eat out and shops and cafes within a short walk.  There is plenty to do in the village itself, with the Beatrix Potter Gallery and the historic Grammar School, where William Wordsworth was once a pupil, both being popular attractions for tourists who want to learn more about the region’s literary connections. Lake Windermere is just a few miles away, where visitors can enjoy boat trips, participate in water sports, and enjoy scenic walks around the edge of the lake.

On entering this former-police station, guests will first come to the entrance hall, which leads on to the spacious kitchen/diner, with its slate floors, round dining table and country-style decor. Guests will find everything they need here, including an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, and dishwasher. There is an additional fridge freezer located under the stairs. The property’s spacious lounge has large windows, comfortable seating, and a cosy wood burner, as well as TV, DVD, and hi-fi. Taking the steep stairs to the first floor, guests will find two bedrooms: a double room with an en-suite shower room and restful twin room. There is also another shower room on this floor with WC. The third bedroom is located on the second floor, and offers a double bed and en-suite shower room with WC.

There is an allocated parking space for one car next to the property, and a permit is provided to allow a second vehicle to use the village’s main car park.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Great location. Not to be recommended for people with mobility problems. Top floor bedroom lacks light felt very claustrophobic. 2nd floor bedroom needs new beds, our son was uncomfortable in there, i don't really think it should have 2 beds, just one good quality one. Interior bit shabby needs updating. We have stopped in Hawkshead many times at mRead moreany cottages. This has been our least favourite would not book again. However other people may love it Hide

The property is in an ideal location with everything in Hawkshead being within walking distance. However, the property is one of 4 or 5 renovated from the old police station and the parking is a major issue. Although there is an allocated parking space at the back of the property - all the other properties also have a space and depending on the sizRead moree of your car you may not be able to get to the space due to others already parking large cars. The cottage had good space for our party - two married couples and two children. The parking - one space on site and one via permit in the village car park - worked well. Hawkshead was a great base for the holiday, we liked the pubs and shops and the access to lots of Beatrix Potter stuff with the children. Comfortable and convenient. Good size kitchen/dining room. No downstairs loo but a shower room for each bedroom. Good showers. Steep and narrow stairs especially to second floor. Copper Tops was the perfect cottage for our stay, it is within walking distance of everything in Hawkshead and ideal for a family stay, with good size rooms. The bedrooms are lovely, especially the attic room which our Son & Daughter in Law loved because we offered to get up with the 19 month old twins whilst they had a lie in. The location of this property is excellent. Hawkshead is a stunning location. The property has potential with high ceilings and parking but the decor and facilities are tired and rundown, which is a shame.

This is our 6th time at Coppertops. We love being able to tumble out of the door into the middle of a beautiful Lakeland village with 4 pubs, a Co-op, a Post office, numerous coffee bars and lovely shops.

Cottage was excellent with a bathroom for each room only down side was no garden but the cottage and location made up for this will definitely stay again
