Beautiful first-floor apartment in a beautiful country house, located in the village of Far Sawrey and enjoying easy access to scenic walks.

This apartment enjoys a stunning location in the quiet village of Far Sawrey, where visitors will find a local pub, the Cuckoo Brow Inn with its roaring fires, seasonal menu, and local ales on tap. Of course, the real draw of the Lake District is the magnificent landscape, and many scenic walks can be enjoyed directly from the front door of the apartment, including a footpath which leads to the summit of Claife Heights, with its purpose-built viewing platform and unrivalled views of Lake Windermere.

Guests will immediately get a sense of just how special this property is, as soon as they enter the grand hallway with its imposing staircase leading up to the apartment on the first-floor. The main living space in the apartment itself is a stunning lounge/kitchen/diner with large bay window affording spectacular views across the countryside to the mountains. There is plentiful seating here and a 40" Full HD Smart LED TV with built in Freeview, DVD, CD, and DAB radio. At the other end of this space, a lovely open fire can be found in the kitchen area, for which fuel is provided. The kitchen is well-equipped with an oven, hob, fridge, and dishwasher, as well as a dining table for enjoying family meals. The master bedroom suite has a queen-size bed, chandelier, Smart TV, and en-suite shower room with WC, but most impressive here are the panoramic views to Lake Windermere, surely one of the most fantastic views to wake up to in the region. There are two further bedrooms: a twin room which can be made up as a super-king-size (if requested at time of booking), thanks to its zip-and-link beds, and an attractive single room which is located in the house’s tower. The spacious bathroom has a bath with handheld shower and WC.

Outside there are extensive shared landscaped gardens with plenty of space to relax and, again, stunning views. A footpath leads directly from the grounds up to Claife Heights. There is off-road parking for two cars. Guests also have the added benefit of complimentary membership to the Burnside Spa in Bowness to enjoy during their stay. The spa is located in the Burnside Hotel and is complementary to guests, featuring a stunning pool with atmospheric lighting, two hot tubs, sauna, and steam room, making it a truly indulgent experience not to be missed.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

We didnt enjoy this cottage but would suit true walkers but to isolated for us need a car to get any provisions poor WiFi And not suitable for elderly unless really active

This is a lovely apartment with fantastic views. Nice and clean, warm and comfortable - would heartily recommend for a peaceful break. Not recommended for disabled or elderly wanting to walk roundabout though due to the hilly terrain and steep access to the property. However, very restful overall and would definitely rebook.

Lovely old property set in attractive grounds with a view of lake Windermere. The general location was perfect. There was easy access to local hikes as well more famous walking close by. The chef at the local pub, a short walk from the property, was excellent, so we enjoyed superb meals after our hikes.

An absolute delight in terms of location. Truly peaceful and relaxing. Stunning views from and all around and lovely walks to do from the property. The garden was lovely and blissful to sit and hear the birdsong. Definitely a place to go and unwind and switch off.

Brilliant location great views from most rooms. Not enough room for 5 adults to sit comfortably in lounge. Very cluttered in lounge/diner. Some furniture and furnishings in need of attention. Holes in cushions would not ecpect this in a 4 star property.

Great location with use of a car, excellent views from the bay window, no shortage of utensils and cookware in the kitchen. Great local pub/ restaurant but booking for a meal is advisable all round fantastic apartment would definitely book again.

This was a last minute break away for me, my husband, 3 teenagers & 1 dog. The propert was lovely. It was clean & had everything we needed. The location for the Cuckoo Brow pub was perfect as we didnt even need to walk on the road. We love the walks from that area so we will definately look to stay there again.

Beautiful old building in lovely surroundings. Perfect for a relaxing holiday in the Lake District countryside. Plenty to do, Motor Museum at Lakeside and River Cruises excellent. Nice, friendly pubs with quality food.

We have stayed in this area of the Lakes for 8 years. This was our first time at Sawrey Knotts. It was perfect for our family ( two boys aged 10 and 12). Lots of cycling and walking from the door. A swim in Moss Eccles Tarn. Two pubs within staggering distance. Since last year extra off road paths have been added making it safer to cycle from HawksRead morehead with children. The view from the apartment is fantastic and the Spa membership was a lovely bonus. We are all keen to return next year. Hide
