This property is located in the rural village of Satterthwaite, which benefits from a lovely pub, with its homecooked food and commitment to serving only local ales. For a larger range of facilities, the village of Hawkshead is four miles away and offers a range of pubs, shops, and National Trust properties, including the popular Beatrix Potter Gallery. The property’s woodland location means that there are plenty of lovely walks in the local area, and the Grizedale Forest Visitors’ Centre is just one mile from the cottage, and offers walking routes, a cafe, sculpture trail, children’s playground, and even a Go-Ape high ropes adventure, if you fancy a birds’ eye view of the forest.

This property is accessed by a flight of external steps which bring visitors to the raised  accommodation. The heart of the cottage is the spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, a stylish room with lovely views across rolling countryside, which can be viewed from the upholstered window seats. To one end of this room, the dining area is light and airy, and offers a table which comfortably seats four. The lounge area occupies the centre of the room, and has double aspect windows, beamed ceiling, and a cosy wood burner which makes a delightful focal point to the room. There is also a TV/DVD, and iPod dock which can be enjoyed from the comfortable sofas. The kitchen has been designed beautifully with granite work tops  and offers an electric oven, halogen hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer, and washer/dryer. One of the property’s bedrooms, a king-size room, is also on this floor, as is a lovely shower room with WC. Downstairs, on the lower-ground floor, there is a second bedroom, a double, which benefits from its own en-suite bathroom with shower over the bath and WC.

Outside, there is an enclosed, south facing patio area with table and chairs to the rear of the property with views across the fields.

A quiet location with great walks on the doorstop through the Grizedale Forest. A local pub with simple food open six days a week is just a short walk away. Close to Esthwaite Water, Windermere and Ambleside. Two beds, two baths and a well equipped kitchen makes it an easy stay for a small family or two couples. Recommended.

This is a lovely base in a beautiful location. The local pub is fantastic. The trails in Grizedale and the search for the various artworks there mean that you don't have to travel far to get the best of this part of the Lake District

A cosy cottage in attractive quiet area. It had all we needed. Parking though was rather tight and only really suitable for one car so might be worth letting customers know as we were a two couple occupation with two cars.

Lovely cottage, in a very peacful location where you can really escape from the daily hussle and bustle of life. Many trails & walks in and around the local area/Grizedale Forest, or take a 15 minute drive into Hawkshead, a very picturesque, historic village with pubs, shops & cafes. Bobtail serves as a good base to visit many parts of the lake disRead moretrict such as Coniston, Ambleside, Windemere, Keswick all between 20-60 minutes drive away and access to many beautiful walks. We had a lovely stay. Hide

Nice cottage in a remote area of the Lake District. A few things need attention but overall a lovely place. Welcome pack of tea, coffee, biscuits and chocolates was a lovely touch. Lovely walks nearby and great pub food in the local pub.

Great stay at Bobtail Cottage. Very quiet location but within close walking distance to a great little pub and also close to all the activities in Grizedale Forest - trails, go-ape and segways! Also near to best places in the South Lakes - but away from the crowds. Would recommend highly.
