Attractive cottage located in the heart of the small village of Satterthwaite, with its popular pub and with easy access to walks in Grizedale Forest.

This lovely cottage, with its quirky features, is situated in the perfect location for those who want to spend their holiday exploring the great outdoors. Grizedale Forest is right on the doorstep, and the forest’s visitor centre is just over a mile away, offering cycling routes and walks for all abilities, a renowned sculpture trail, children’s play area, cafe, and a Go-Ape climbing centre. A walk up the nearby Carron Crag gives some of the best views over Coniston and the Old Man. In the opposite direction is the delightful Rusland Valley. Both Lake Windermere and Coniston Water are a short drive from the cottage, where guests can try a range of waterside activities, from pleasurable boat trips, to windsurfing lessons. Enjoy a gentle stroll around the picturesque Tam Hows or for the hardier fell walker, the majestic and rugged Langdales are also only a short drive away. The village of Satterthwaite, with its village pub, is one of the Lake District’s secret, yet accessible hideaways and a romantic getaway. A short walk takes you to a Children's play area in the village.

The front door of this property opens directly into the lovely and cosy lounge, with its comfortable seating, modern inset wood burner, TV/DVD and Freesat Wi-Fi. This room leads guests to the smart and contemporary well equipped kitchen, with its oven, hob, fridge with ice compartment, microwave, and washing machine. Leading off from the opposite side of the lounge to the kitchen, is the property’s dining room, with table and chairs, a well-stocked bookcase and French windows which open onto the garden. There is also a stylish tiled shower room with WC and underfloor heating on this floor. Stairs from next to the front door lead to the first-floor accommodation, where there are elegantly understated bedrooms. The first of these is a pretty king-size room with an attractive feature fireplace and window which affords views to the village green. The other bedroom is single with similar lovely views of the village.

Outside, the patio garden to the rear of the property, is a lovely sunny place to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings, offering bistro-style seating, as well as a bench. There is also a shed to allow guests to securely store two adult bikes. There is road parking for one car on the lane beside the garden wall, just next to the cottage or next to the church opposite. Pleasant, good furnishings and in a pretty location. Great wood burner. However, nowhere to dry your clothes in the winter. Takes days to dry anything. Would benefit from a tumble dryer being installed in an out building and perhaps being coin operated to save on electricity costs.

Absolutely beautiful cottage really well appointed and cosy. We were greeted by a welcome pack of ground coffee, tea bags and a bottle of milk in the fridge. The cottage had everything you would want including a wood burning fire which was great. For us it was located in a great spot to walk over the Grizedale forest.

Small, but perfectly formed cottage in a lovely wee village with a great pub. Comfy bed, great fire and good shower. Excellent location for walking directly from the property

The cottage is well located for exploring all the southern Lake District region. Walks are also accessible straight from the cottage, following a variety of trails directly into Grizedale Forest.

A lovely cottage, very homely feel, nice little garden, comfy yet squeaky bed! the road outside can become a little noisy with traffic. Great location for Grizedale walks, just minutes walk away but a little remote to get to Ambleside or Hawkshead. Lovely friendly pub 100yrds away. Very nice stay in all though, thank you.

We found the cottage to be very well appointed and equipped. There were a couple of minor issues but these were sorted immediately. There was everything we needed and the location was fab. The master bed was very comfortable. It was much softer than I am used to but so comfortable that I am considering replacing my own with similar. Excellent serviRead morece and I would fully recommend. There is limited parking but it is perfectly suited for a couple with a child or for two single people Hide
