Beautiful 17th century country cottage, situated close to the stunning Tarn Hows, which offers accessible lakeside walks in a picturesque location.

This cottage enjoys a wonderfully quiet location, situated a mile away from the village of Hawkshead to the south and equal distance to the popular country pub to the north. 2.5 miles from the property, on the shore of Lake Windermere, visitors will find the majestic mock Gothic Wray Castle, which is a popular stop for the pleasure boats which run up and down Windermere, taking visitors to local attractions and to the towns of Ambleside and Bowness. For those who would like to try something more challenging than the local scenic walks, the mountain ranges are only a short drive away.

On entering this property, guests come to a spacious hall, to either side of which doors lead through to two spacious rooms. To the right-hand side, is the tasteful and comfortable lounge, which has a lovely relaxing atmosphere, with its exposed beams, wood burner, comfortable sofas, dual aspect windows, TV, and DVD. Crossing back across the hall, the property’s kitchen/diner is a large and light-filled room, with farmhouse style dining table seating six, an electric AGA, conventional oven and hob, microwave, American-style fridge/freezer, and dishwasher. Just next to the kitchen is a handy shower room, with WC, and this is where guests will also find the washing machine and tumble dryer. To the rear of the property, a large barn-conversion extension is the home to a family room, which is set up as a games room, with table football, TV/DVD, as well as a cosy multi-fuel stove. This room makes a great den for teenagers in the evening. Stairs from the hallway lead to the first-floor accommodation: three bedrooms and a bathroom. The first bedroom is a king-size room with en-suite, whilst there is also a double room and a twin, all of which are tastefully decorated and feature the original exposed beams. The bathroom has a bath and WC.

Outside, there is a pretty flower-filled seating area to the front of the property and a separate good-sized lawn enclosed by a fence and wall, with fantastic views over the surrounding countryside, a great place to relax or to play games. There is ample off-road parking for four cars.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Really lovely cottage, very well presented. More than adequate space for a party of 6 and ample parking. The village of Hawkshead was easily walkable by day but not recommended after dark and taxis not so easy to come by for a party of 6. However, the cottage was really well equipped with cooking utensils etc. so easy to remain indoors and self catRead moreer. A really sociable property and I would book again. Hide

A lovely quiet cottage with beautiful views. The walk over into Hawkshead via Hawkshead Hill was great for us (6 adults) but is quite steep to begin with. The walk down the lane into Hawkshead is much quicker but is very narrow and not suitable for small children etc. Plenty of parking. No milk delivery for us this week which was a shame but may beRead more due to COVID restrictions. Altogether a lovely stay, thank you. Hide

This cottage was in a great location and perfect for the four adults and two dogs we had on our trip. The cottage was well equipped, very clean and cosy. An excellent size garden to sit out and enjoy the views. Would definitely stay here again on our next trip to the Lake District.

Very cosy and it was great to have two log burners, one in the lounge and the second one in the back room. Great walks on the doorstep but a bit of a hike to the pub along the narrow country lane. I wouldnt like to contemplate it on a winters night and car driver isnt concentrating. The cottage is plenty big enough for 6 adults. Would definitely stRead moreay again at this property. Hide

Comfortable cottage. Very warm & cosy with the Aga & woodburner. Access into carpark was difficult with neighbour's car parked opposite.

Very comfortable cottage with two separate living areas were adults can have some space to themselves at the end of the day. Extremely dog friendly with the sleeping areas separated by a stair gate and lower ground floor shower room to wash the dog after being out for a walk.

A lovely cottage in the most peaceful location just a few miles from Hawkshead. It is well equipped and very comfortable with good Wi-fi. The Aga, which wasnt working when we arrived but soon sorted, ensured the kitchen was very cosy. Three good sized bedrooms, two bathrooms and a third shower cubicle make excellent accommodation for six people.

Fantastic property situated in a beautiful location, with the only sounds you could hear for the vast majority of our stay were the birds singing and the sheep in the adjacent field ! Picture perfect cottage in a lovely location, easy to get into Hawkshead with its shops, pubs and cafes and great dog walks on the doorstep. Garden and drive adjacent to cottage rather than directly attached however nearby walks made up for this.
