Property code: FOLLY

Attractive cottage, one of four in this tranquil location, just a short drive from the coast and five miles south of Bideford.

This cottage enjoys a quiet countryside location, two miles from the village of Buckland Brewer with its popular pub and traditional butchers. Further afield, the historic port town of Bideford is just five miles away from the property, with its independent shops and narrow streets. From here, visitors may wish to enjoy a boat trip to the National Trust owned island of Lundy, with its puffins and herd of Sika deer. This converted grain store offers visitors a wonderful rural getaway and the cottage itself acts as a retreat from everyday life.

Accessing the property up the four external steps, guests will come straight to the ground-floor lounge area, which offers traditional stone floors, comfortable seating, a TV, DVD, and a wood burner effect electric fire. Down two stairs and tucked away behind an exposed brick wall is the kitchen/diner, with its dining table for two and its kitchen area, where guests will find an oven, hob, microwave, and fridge with ice compartment. Open-tread stairs lead from the lounge to the upstairs accommodation, where there is an attractive double bedroom and an en-suite shower room with WC.

Outside, the property enjoys direct access to the public footpath, from where many countryside walks can be enjoyed and the owner’s land may also be accessed by prior arrangement. There is ample off-road parking.

Had a lovely time. Very quite lovely area. Road to property is narrow but just made holiday more memorable.

A lovely stay and just what we were looking for, quiet and peaceful. However the property is pretty isolated and very narrow country lanes may not suit everyone. We were very fortunate with the weather but if it had been as wet as the preceding week then we may have struggled to find things to do.

The property is off the beaten track so you need to drive to basically everywhere even to the nearest pub. You need to take pretty much everything with you other than towels and bed linen as nothing else is provided, this may be different prior to Covid. Location is great if you want a really peaceful place to stay.

The cottage was home from home. Everything required was provided. Our hosts had left us a cream tea on arrival and also a bottle of prosecco to celebrate a special occasion
