Peacefully tucked away, this stylish barn is the perfect base for couples looking to escape, its traditional honey coloured stone exterior gives way to a contemporary and cosy style.

Barford St Michael is a charming, well served village in northern Oxfordshire, on the edge of the Cotswolds and six miles from the busy market town of Banbury, home of the famous Banbury Cross mentioned in the well-known nursery rhyme. There is something to suit all tastes throughout the year, a wealth of National Trust properties and gardens, Bicester Village shopping outlet, with its array of designer shops, Silverstone race track, home of the British Grand Prix, and the traditionally English towns and villages of the Cotswolds on the doorstep, including Chipping Norton, Stow-on-the-Wold and Moreton-in-Marsh. A little further afield is the university city of Oxford, with its historic buildings, architecture and museums.

Walk along the gravelled courtyard and through the French doors into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with French doors allowing the light to enhance the contemporary style. In the lounge area, with comfortable sofa and TV/DVD, why not cosy up and relax with a good book or old movie? The kitchen area is contemporary in style and is equipped with electric oven and hob and a fridge with ice compartment, perfect for preparing a romantic supper for two, and for the summer evenings, the dining area is perfect for enjoying the evening sun. At the end of the day, climb the wooden stairs to a double bedroom with garden views. There is also a shower room with shower and WC on this floor.

Step outside and enjoy your morning coffee with bird song within a small seating area, and for lazy afternoons enjoy the open aspect cottage style gardens. There is allocated off-road parking for one car.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

The cottage was lovely and in a quiet, peaceful village - and a stones throw from the local pub which like the cottage is dog friendly. Peter and Rachel made sure we had everything we needed and were always on hand if we had any questions. Good location, clean, modern and well equipped. Owners were friendly and welcoming. The cottage was small but all space was well used.
