Enjoy superb scenery and walking on the South West Coastal Path or the National Park itself from this charming detached cottage. Situated on the foot slopes of Dunkery Beacon at Exmoors highest point.

This area is popular with walkers and nature lovers with Exmoor National Park being right on your doorstep, thereby making the cottage popular with couples wanting to get away from it all, especially out of season. Set around the yard of the owner’s small farm it is perfect for those seeking peace and quiet. From the top gate of the farm, guests can walk up to the summit of Dunkery Beacon, where the views are far-reaching. The local village of Wheddon Cross is a short distance away and has a well-stocked local shop and pub. Other points of interest include the medieval town of Dunster with its famous 'Dunster by Candlelight Festival' held at the beginning of December, Valley of the Rocks, Lynton and Lynmouth and the West Somerset Steam Railway.

On entering this cottage, you will go straight into the lounge/kitchen/diner which is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet this location boasts. In the lounge area, you can enjoy curling up with your favourite book in front of the wood burner, or take time to watch the TV/DVD. The lounge and kitchen areas are divided by a breakfast bar which is perfect for breakfast and light suppers. The kitchen is well-equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge with ice compartment. There is also a small cloakroom which is perfect for hanging coats and storing muddy boots after a long countryside walk. Heading upstairs you will find one double room (which can be made up as a twin on request). The shower room is also on this floor and has a shower and WC. Wi-Fi is available, but due to the location it can be intermittent. Regret no children under the age of 16.

Venturing outside through the cloakroom you will find an enclosed decked area with seating, here you can enjoy the warm Somerset evenings and the open views down the valley. Proceed down nine steps to the small private garden where you can relax and enjoy a spot of outside dining. There is off-road parking for one car to the front of the property. In a separate building, you will find individual lockable store cupboards for bikes and surf boards, laundry facilities and even a hose and a sink with hot water for washing your four legged friends. With dogs in mind there is also a useful dog kennel and run located below the decking steps.

"Swallows Nest" was perfect for the two of us and the dog. The cottage was clean with an adequate securely fenced garden, and direct access to a very large secured field for walking. The cottage is in good condition, great location, lovely dog safe garden. It would be so much better if more attention was paid to the condition of kitchen equipment and crockery.

Lovely location with all the things that make the holiday a relaxing break. It was great to have a really dog proof garden as our Patterdale terrier is a bit of an escape artist.

A cosy cottage on a farm with the most wonderful views. Easy access to Dunkery Beacon and many walks from the front door. Dog friendly with a little enclosed garden although we access to two huge fields for our four-legged friends. Pub, garage and shop not too far away. Peace, quiet and tranquility as its best

Fantastic property in a stunning setting! The views from the cottage decking look out across fields, and Lyca our dog enjoyed exploring the secure garden and running around the field. Just what the doctor ordered, we had a lovely break at Swallows Nest, the wood burner kept us warm on chiller nights and we found the cottage cosy and comfortable with everything we needed. Location was great for walking and amenities. We wouldnt hesitate to recommend to friends and family

Lovely quiet retreat for the wife and I on her birthday. Really clean and tidy on arrival. Loved having breakfast on the decking watching the ducks, and lighting the woodburner at night! Will definitely be booked again.

Exactly what we wanted. Almost off grid, WiFi but no mobile (hurrah). Not a light or building in sight from the farm. Tranquility with ducks was just what the soul needed.

Lovely place, great location for exploring Exmoor although maybe not from Cottage, youd have to get in car & drive. Cottage is surrounded by farm land & is really really quiet, only noise is the ducks outside the front door! Everything is there that you need & quite spacious too. My partner & I loved it!
