Property code: CHL05

This property is situated on the outskirts of the village of Goodrich in the picturesque Wye Valley, and is a pleasant walk from the village’s imposing medieval castle, which is maintained by English Heritage. Those who love to spend time in nature will relish the walks around Symonds Yat Rock, an ancient hill fort offering breath-taking views across the valley below. Symonds Yat West Leisure Park is also nearby and offers a fun day out for all ages, with plenty of space to play games, adventure playgrounds, river boat cruises, and a fun go-kart track. It isn’t all countryside pursuits though, as Ross-on-Wye, Hereford, and Gloucester are all within easy reach.

On entering this unusual property, guests will find themselves in the spacious lounge area, there is also a downstairs WC and cloakroom. With its exposed stone walls and deep-set windows, there is a real sense of history in this room, and when the wood burner is lit in the evenings there is a wonderfully cosy atmosphere. The sofas and armchairs provide somewhere comfortable to relax whilst watching the TV. To the right as you enter this impressive building and through an prigianl stone archway is the modern open plan kitchen and dining area with French windows leading out into the shared curtyard. A large dining table, which comfortable seats up to ten guests, is a great place for enjoying sociable mealtimes together. The kitchen area is very well-equipped with an electric oven, induction hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, and dishwasher. Narrow, stone stairs which would have been used by the original occupants of this building, lead to the first floor. As you arrive at the top of the stairs there is an open landing where you will find two super king-sized, en suite bedrooms (both can be made into twins on request).  Another two sets of stairs lead to the second floor, one on the right and one on the left of the open landing. Following the stairs to the right you will find two further en suite, king-size bedrooms. To the left of the open landing you will find a further staircase leading to the master suite with stunning high ceilings, roll top bath and separate en-suite shower room, a room fit for a king.

Outside, guests have access to the spacious shared gardens where they will find picnic benches and seating scattered around the lawns, offering the perfect place to enjoy a picnic or simply relax in the attractive surroundings.

Lovely unusual property - part of the Flanesford Priory building. Really well situated for the Wye Valley attractions. I was unsure about using a shared garden space, but it worked well and was a beautiful spot. The Cafe on site Friday to Sunday, does amazing cake / food.

Its not every holiday you stay in such a historic building within sight and walking distance of a castle! It is very comfortable and well equipped while retaining the historic character, and ideally situated for visiting the lovely Wye Valley.

Great location, beautiful house: warm and modern, owners very friendly, good cafe on site (which isn't mentioned on the website that I could see) there isn't a washing machine/tumble dryer in the property but there is one available on site which was great as it was very muddy on our walks.

Probably one of the best (if not the best!) places we've stayed - both at home and abroad. A luxurious experience which was enjoyed by all. Owners were helpful and present when needed but unobtrusive in the main. We'll certainly be returning if possible!

Great location and house, we used all the rooms which were all immaculate, great showers and enough hot water supply for all of us. We cooked dinner at the house for the whole week and everything worked great with the help of a well equipped kitchen. The cafe opposite was great too and served good food and lovely pastries and cakes. Would love to vRead moreisit again. Hide
