  • Beautiful rural location, set on a traditional working farm
  • Wrap-around veranda with stunning views to the Black Mountains
  • A fabulous location less than one mile to Offa’s Dyke for fabulous walking trails
Property code: CHL28

Wonderfully secluded property, situated on the owner’s farm close to the Welsh border, just a short drive to the literary town of Hay-on-Wye, and with nearby access to walks along Offa’s Dyke.

This property enjoys a quiet location, with easy access to the Shropshire, Herefordshire, and Welsh countryside. Whilst the property has a lovely secluded feel, making it ideal for a romantic couple’s getaway, it is, nevertheless, within easy reach of one of the region’s best-loved towns - Hay-on-Wye. Hay is, of course, famous for its literature festival and fantastic range of bookshops, however, there is much more to this rather wonderful town, including, craft shops, a range of eateries to suit all tastes, and a weekly market. Other places of interest in the local area include The Brecon Beacons National Park, Offa’s Dyke, and a variety of water-based activities on the River Wye.

This farm cottage is an ideal place to enjoy a quiet break for two. The single-storey property is accessed via two steps which bring guests directly to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, a wonderfully light-filled space, thanks to the windows on three sides. Two comfy armchairs are positioned to allow guests to relax in front of the cosy wood burner on cooler evenings. The kitchen area, with its cooking facilities, including an oven and hob is located just beyond the French window which opens out onto the decked veranda. The property’s bedroom has a super king-size bed which can be made up as two single beds on request, and benefits from a patio door which leads out to the veranda, affording lovely waterfall views. The shower room with WC can be found located between the bedroom and the main living area.

Outside, the raised veranda wraps around the property, giving guests a choice of aspects to enjoy from the provided table and chairs. The views include mountains, a stream, the surrounding countryside, and even a waterfall. There is off-road parking provided.

  • 1 super king-size bedroom (can be made up as a twin on request)
  • Shower room with WC
  • Regret no TV as there is no local reception
  • Wi-Fi available though due to location connectivity can be patchy
  • Mobile phone reception can be patchy, and is generally limited to Orange and Vodafone
  • Wood burner - logs included
  • Oven and hob, fridge
  • Bed linen, electric, bath towels only, and heating included
  • Regret no pets
  • Off-road parking provided
  • Regret no children under the age of 15
  • HOLIDAY PREPARATION: We would advise to contact local amenities directly, such as shops, restaurants, pubs and attractions, to confirm the latest opening times and availability.

Lovely peaceful cottage. Very much off the beaten track but if its quiet you want then this is the place. If you want to get away, the Lookout is the place to do it. Very isolated, peaceful and utterly beautiful. 2 miles from Hay-on-Wye and a short drive to some of the best walks in the Brecons. A wonderful retreat! We had a fantastic few nights away in this cosy cottage. The postcode doesn't quite get you there so please follow the directions supplied by the owner. Fantastic cottage up in the hills, lovely views and great access to the fells. The owners are very friendly & we had a splendid bottle of fizz on Christmas Day. There are a couple of friendly dogs and a cat that purrs like a diesel generator. Very well equipped throughout & the log fire is awesome! Highly recommended.
