Property code: CHL28

Wonderfully secluded property, situated on the owner’s farm close to the Welsh border, just a short drive to the literary town of Hay-on-Wye, and with nearby access to walks along Offa’s Dyke.

This property enjoys a quiet location, with easy access to the Shropshire, Herefordshire, and Welsh countryside. Whilst the property has a lovely secluded feel, making it ideal for a romantic couple’s getaway, it is, nevertheless, within easy reach of one of the region’s best-loved towns - Hay-on-Wye. Hay is, of course, famous for its literature festival and fantastic range of bookshops, however, there is much more to this rather wonderful town, including, craft shops, a range of eateries to suit all tastes, and a weekly market. Other places of interest in the local area include The Brecon Beacons National Park, Offa’s Dyke, and a variety of water-based activities on the River Wye.

This farm cottage is an ideal place to enjoy a quiet break for two. The single-storey property is accessed via two steps which bring guests directly to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, a wonderfully light-filled space, thanks to the windows on three sides. Two comfy armchairs are positioned to allow guests to relax in front of the cosy wood burner on cooler evenings. The kitchen area, with its cooking facilities, including an oven and hob is located just beyond the French window which opens out onto the decked veranda. The property’s bedroom has a super king-size bed which can be made up as two single beds on request, and benefits from a patio door which leads out to the veranda, affording lovely waterfall views. The shower room with WC can be found located between the bedroom and the main living area.

Outside, the raised veranda wraps around the property, giving guests a choice of aspects to enjoy from the provided table and chairs. The views include mountains, a stream, the surrounding countryside, and even a waterfall. There is off-road parking provided.

  • 1 super king-size bedroom (can be made up as a twin on request)
  • Shower room with WC
  • Regret no TV as there is no local reception
  • Wi-Fi available though due to location connectivity can be patchy
  • Mobile phone reception can be patchy, and is generally limited to Orange and Vodafone
  • Wood burner - logs included
  • Oven and hob, fridge
  • Bed linen, electric, bath towels only, and heating included
  • Regret no pets
  • Off-road parking provided
  • Regret no children under the age of 15
  • Arrival 4pm

The cottage is very cozy and has everything you need, even a wood fire (which we didnt use). It has a lovely veranda where you can sit outside and enjoy the magnificent views. The bed is huge and very comfy. There were even fresh eggs left for us (which were yum). The road going to the property is very narrow and a bit daunting when youre not used Read moreto it, but thats the only negative. Hide

Great cottage in a perfect location. Everything inside was of a consistently high quality and finish. Having Hay Bluff within walking distance was a real treat. The owners are delightful and helpful with local knowledge. Will definitely visit again.

A beautiful and stylishly presented cottage in an idyllic rural setting - the perfect spot to get away from it all. The owner, and the cat and dog menagerie, all very friendly. Thoroughly recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Lookout It is about the closest you can get, in stylish comfort, to a working farm and we loved having all the healthy, happy animals around us. The owner and her family could not have been kinder or more welcoming.
