Stunning five-star detached eco-friendly cottage enjoying a breath-taking hillside location, surrounded by open countryside, and yet just two miles from the town of Presteigne.

The visually stunning location of this hillside property makes it a great choice for those who want to completely unwind and get away from all the stresses of daily life, whilst relaxing in the verdant surroundings. It is not, however, completely remote, as the town of Presteigne is just two miles away which is home to the award winning small museum - The Judges Lodging. As well as an annual Summer International Classic Music Festival, it also offers a selection of shops, several pubs and restaurants. A little further afield, are the interesting towns of Ludlow and Hay-on-Wye. (Please check admittance for the various attractions).

Guests enter this cottage into a short hallway which opens directly into the spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, a stylish room with artfully exposed beams and far-reaching views of the surrounding countryside. The contemporary oak and granite kitchen, occupies its own corner of the room, offering a Range oven with hob, a Belfast sink, fridge/freezer, and dishwasher, whilst the washing machine can be found in a handy utility room which also houses a boot and drying rack. The kitchen area overlooks the dining area, with its large table and seating for up to eight, beyond which is the wonderfully inviting lounge with a window seat, two comfortable sofas, large picture window, and energy-efficient wood burner. One of the property’s bedrooms is located on the ground floor: a king-size room with French windows leading to the decked area and benefits from countryside views, next to which is a shower room with walk-in shower and WC. Wooden stairs lead to the first-floor accommodation, where there are two further bedrooms. The first room which has bespoke Norwegian-style twin beds, offering guests a lovely cosy night’s sleep. There are two futons in this room, which are usually used as seating, but can be converted to single beds to accommodate two extra guests at an additional charge of £100 per week or part thereof. The third bedroom is a welcoming and restful room with a super-king-size (can be made up as twin beds on request). The bathroom has been beautifully designed and offers a shower-over-bath and WC.

The outside space has had just as much thought put into it as the interior of the house. Guests will love relaxing on the large decked terrace which can be accessed via the dining area, and offers garden furniture as well as a BBQ to enjoy. Surrounding this area, there is a quarter of an acre of enclosed gardens, which blend seamlessly with the surrounding countryside and pastures. There is off-road parking provided, as well as a secure bike store located next to the front door of the house.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

  • 3 bedrooms: 1 king-size (ground floor with access to the decked garden area), 1 Norwegian-style twin, and 1 super-king (can be made up as a twin on request)

What a fantastic house, the best we have stayed in. Everything we needed was provided and everything was very good quality. What a treat to wake up to that amazing view.

This is the only cottage we have returned to. Again, we were delighted with the cottage, the cleanliness, comfort and the spectacular situation overlooking Presteigne. If you are thinking about taking bikes, the cottage is half way up a serious hill and there are no flat or easy rides, but many fantastic views.

Absolutely loved our week here. Gorgeous barn and very welcoming hosts. Stonewall Hill was a challenge to drive up, but well worth it for the views from the barn. We had a fantastic time, we could happily sit looking at the view all day. The cottage is comfortable, especially the beds and it has all you need. The dogs loved running around the garden. This is our favourite place to stay and we have already booked for next year.

Fantastic location and a very comfortable cottage. Lock down has clearly had an effect however we managed to get out to various activities all of which were at least 30 to 60 mins drive. If you want to do lots of local walking then its ideal but a car is essential if visits are planned

The Parks cottage is the best cottage we have stayed in and is the only one we would return to. The cottage is eco-friendly, comfortable and warm (without needing any heating) and is situated in an amazing elevated position looking down on Presteigne. If you are planning to cycle, there is no easy way back to the cottage. The hills are challenging!

A perfect cottage in a perfect location. We were greeted with a welcome pack of milk, butter, bacon, apple juice, wine, eggs, tea and coffee and fresh bread....delicious. You could stay in the cottage and drink in the amazing view all day. The beds are comfortable and the property was spotlessly clean.

It's not all about the views, but we've never stayed anywhere with views like this. Weather watching is mesmerising. We also enjoyed observing the local buzzards and kites and saw roe deer beyond Parks Barn, where the, very helpful, owners, Dorothy and Peter live. Everything in the cottage is top spec, nothing is missing. Nearby Presteigne and KnigRead morehton both provide good shops, cafs etc. We started and finished our holiday at the superb Tower House Gallery in Knighton, which is dog friendly. Hide

The cottage was far better than we expected. It had everything we needed and was very comfortable and clean. The only thing that could have made it better was snow as it was our Christmas break, and we were hoping we may get snowed in. I would recommend it wholeheartedly.
