Property code: 53038

Tucked away within the rolling countryside on the Berkshire/ Oxfordshire border this architect designed barn is the perfect base for a holiday with friends or family, with an open-plan lounge/diner that’s just perfect whatever the occasion.

Just a short 10 minutes drive from Wantage, a traditional market town that’s brimming with historic buildings, a haven for shoppers, with a variety of independent shops and boutiques, and weekly produce markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays that are also not to be missed. The ancient Ridgeway National Trail is just perfect for keen walkers to explore the area. Enjoying a great location with a wealth of attractions close to your doorstep that include; Beale Park, Bucklebury Farm Park and Lakeside Discovery Centre. For historians take a trip to the Uffington White Horse , Highclere Castle and Donnington Castle or simply wander the grounds of Blenheim Palace. And, for a relaxing day, fishing is available on the River Kennet, with boat trips on the Kennet and Avon Canal. There are also several Golf Courses close by including West Berkshire Golf Club, Donnington Grove, a championship standard course and one of the oldest clubs in England, Newbury and Crookham.

Take in the beauty of the surrounding farmland and leave your boots at the front door. This inviting hallway offers a friendly welcome with ample space for coats and wellies. After a day’s exploring you will want to relax in the lounge/diner where the oak windows simply frame the views across the countryside. The cosy seating area is ready for that favourite film on TV or DVD or a game of cards, whilst the dining area is just perfect for entertaining and, for summer evenings, why not open the doors onto the patio. The kitchen is tucked away off the hallway and is well equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave, small fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer-dryer. There is also a large fridge/ freezer in the lounge area to put the rest of your food and drink for a relaxing stay. When it is time for bed you will find a double bedroom with en-suite shower and WC downstairs, off the entrance hallway. Climb the stairs to the first floor where you will find three bedrooms, two king-size, one with an en-suite shower and WC, and one king-size which is a Links bed and can be converted into twins. The third bedroom is a double. There is also a family bathroom with a shower over the bath and a WC.

There are horses in fields and being ridden onsite, dogs are to remain on leads when they are on the property; however, there are plenty of public footpaths and places to walk the dogs in the area. In addition we ask any visitors to stay out of the yard and barns for safety reasons, unless accompanied by a member of staff. As a busy working yard this is to ensure our guest’s safety as well as our staff’s. Thank you for your consideration on this matter.

Take in the views across the countryside and the private patio, which enjoys a secluded setting to the side of the barn. We have a table/bench and enough room for you to bring your own BBQ or a disposable one. There is ample private parking, on the gravel to the right, and bicycle storage in stables if necessary.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

This is a really luxurious cottage in beautiful countryside. Peaceful and surrounded by horses from the stud farm, it is an excellent base for an extended family or group of friends to holiday together. The rooms are huge - no trying to cram in the maximum number of guests in a small space! There is walking in beautiful countryside right from the cRead moreottage, which is minutes from the Ridgeway and Uffington White Horse. Hide

The cottage is located in a lovely setting surrounded by fields where horses graze. There are plenty of paths for long walks and the local town is a short drive away and is ideal for eating out or shopping. The owner stays next door and when we requested new pans for the kitchen , she duly obliged and replaced them the same morning. The one thing IRead more would advise, whilst dogs are welcome to stay, they do need to be on a leash all the time outside the house as there is no enclosed garden. Hide

The accommodation was of a very good standard, light and airy, very well equipped with interesting features and furnishings which personalised the place. We never did master the underfloor heating, so maybe some better instructions would have helped. Saying that the place felt warm. especially in the lounge, because of the lovely large windows. Location a bit strange... you are right in the middle of a working horse stud... you need to drive to go anywhere..the house is nice and owners friendly as there is no garden theres nowhere for young children to play... there are vehicles and horses passing by throughout the day..you have to travel by car to do anything

The main issue would be that the workers on the farm walk and drive immediately in front of the main windows. If a private enclosure could be added around these front windows that would be much better and safer for young children to play outside.
