Tucked into the rolling valley, this traditional stone barn offering spacious accommodation with a contemporary twist is a great base for those wishing to enjoy the outdoors whatever the time of year.

Close by is the Welsh border village of Grosmont, described by the Welsh writer Jan Morris as ‘The most beautiful village in Britain’ with its castle, friendly pub and quaint village post office/store.  The village is a mile away, along a quiet country lane.

The area is just perfect for walkers and cyclists of all abilities. Offering easy access to the Brecon Beacons for adventurous hiking and the Wye Valley for canoeing, cycling and more gentle walking. Close to the foodie town of Abergavenny with its monthly farmers' market held on the last Thursday of the month, and the renowned Food Festival every September.  The area boasts a wealth of excellent restaurants and country pubs.  Heading towards the Beacons is the pretty town of Crickhowell, in the Usk Valley and lying on the England/Wales border in the historic town of Monmouth. Take a drive up the Llanthony Valley through the Black Mountains to Hay-on-Wye with its eclectic range of book shops and the international Literary Festival every May. Lots of family fun around with Pony Trekking, Go Ape , the Big Pit, castles to explore and much more.

This traditional detached stone barn offers a warm welcome.  Step through the large glazed doors and into the welcoming sitting room.  The exposed barn walls and travertine floor complement the contemporary style of furnishing, and the blazing wood burner makes for a cosy evening catching up with friends or watching the TV/DVD. A selection of books and DVD's are available for guests in the lounge - perfect for those rainy days! Across the hall lies the kitchen, with a lovely oak table creating a great space for entertaining.   Handy stable doors open out into the courtyard which is lovely, private place to eat outside. The kitchen is very well-equipped and amply meets the needs of any aspiring chef, and includes electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. Also on the ground floor is the utility room with washing machine, and a shower room with WC. Upstairs the large master bedroom is the perfect place to wind down, with a king-size bed, chaise longue and sofa. Across the hall is a further double room and a bunk bed room.  All the bedrooms have oak floors, beautiful beams and stunning views across the rolling Monmouthshire countryside.  Soak up the views over the Welsh hills as you lie back in the bath, the centre piece of this lovely bathroom.

Outside there is a private, enclosed courtyard with table, chairs and charcoal BBQ, just perfect for entertaining.  Children will enjoy exploring the owners' orchard.  Next door to the barn in the boiler room there’s a tumble dryer, butler’s sink for washing muddy boots and space for bicycle storage and walking kit. There is parking for two cars close to the barn entrance.

We adored our holiday at Trevyr Barn. It is set amidst beautiful views and countryside and the owner could not have been more helpful. The Barn is a wonderful conversion to a very high standard and served as a superb base to explore this beautiful part of Wales and Herefordshire. We would not hesitate to return.
