Lovely lodge situated in the quiet village of Clearwell, great base to explore the Forest of Dean. Wonderful hosts and location. It was perfect for our 3 and 5 year olds. Not only did they love seeing (and hearing) the animals in the morning, but the front yard and recreation area across the property were perfect for keeping them entertained.

The lodge was in a good location, surrounded by some good things to do if you don't have a dog. We had a dog so had to travel out. During our stay there was a fly problem, we would come back to around 50 dead flies in the bedroom and shower upstairs.. very off putting.

If you want a wonderfully tranquil location with a secure garden for children or a dog - this is the perfect property for you. Very comfortable beds, good shower and super views from the balcony with a farm next door where Philip showed us the new piglets. Also quiet but very well equipped childrens area and dog walking field across the road.

Our second holiday at this property, and we will go again. The lodge is well equipped and ideal for armchair birdwatching! Plenty of species are visible from the veranda, including Bullfinches. This lodge is a beaut. Well equipped, cutely decorated, amazing water pressure! Gorgeous location out in the country but with nearby town being only a 10 min drive away. Great for kids as there is a park just opposite and football field, but equally good for no-kids as the play area is far enough away not to be bothered by noise.

The property was a perfect base for many of the activities available in the Forest of Dean. It was extremely clean and comfortable. Clover the cat was a regular at our back door which the children loved. The playground opposite was very quiet and the children often had it to themselves! We would definitely return.
