Property code: BX026

Lovingly maintained three-storey marine house enjoying a fantastic location overlooking the harbour in the English Riviera town of Brixham.

This property is situated close to the town centre of Brixham, which lies on the western side of the bay of Torbay, across from Torquay and just a few miles around the coast from Paignton. Brixham itself makes a lovely place for a break, with its choice of beaches, lively harbour, and range of shops and restaurants. Why not catch the ferry across to Torquay and enjoy a day strolling the seafront, sampling the bistros, and perhaps paying a visit to the town’s Living Coasts aquarium, with its resident penguins?

This fantastic property surely boasts some of the best views in Brixham, which can be enjoyed from all of the main living accommodation. On entering the property, guests will first find the hallway which opens onto the kitchen/diner with its wide Juliet balcony allowing guests to enjoy the spectacular views and sea breeze from the dining table. The kitchen area itself offers an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, and washing machine. The bathroom on this floor has a sanctuary-like feel and offers a shower-over-bath and WC. Wooden stairs lead to the lower-ground floor where the bedrooms are located: a spacious king-size room with Juliet balcony looking over the harbour, and a twin room with sea views. Taking the stairs back up, past the ground floor, guests will find the lounge on the first-floor. Arguably the most impressive room in the house, this light and airy space is dominated by the huge floor to ceiling windows which open out onto the spacious balcony from where guests can sit back, relax, and enjoy watching the boats below, a particularly enchanting view at night. Stepping back inside this L-shaped room, there is a second dining area positioned close to the window, whilst in the lounge area there are two inviting sofas, attractive feature fireplace, a TV home cinema system, and DVD. There is also a convenient cloakroom with WC on this top floor of the property, which is located just off the landing at the top of the stairs.

The large balcony off the first-floor lounge is the main outside space, but guests will definitely not feel that they are missing out on having a garden, thanks to the balcony’s fantastic position. A table and chairs have been provided, making it the perfect spot for romantic meals, or drinks as the sun goes down. There is one private, allocated parking space for guests’ use which is located up to a ten minute walk from the house.

  • Two bedrooms:
  • 1 king-size bed
  • 1 twin
  • Bathroom with shower-over-bath and WC, plus cloakroom with WC
  • TV and DVD in the lounge
  • TV in the dining area
  • Wi-Fi included
  • Electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer.
  • Electric and heating included
  • Bed linen and towels included
  • Regret no pets
  • Allocated parking space short walk from the property
  • Seafront, pub, and shops all within walking distance
  • Please note due to the nature of the property some restricted head height is present in stairways
  • Brixham is busy fishing village situated on a very steep hill, so access to some parts of the village can be challenging.
  • Many of the amenities and cottages in Brixham are accessed via steps some of which can be steep. Please contact us if you have specific requirements.
  • There are many small winding streets that are not suitable for cars.

The house was over 3 floors with very narrow steep steps down to bedrooms and up to living room from the kitchen on the middle floor. Not ideal for the elderly or anyone with a disability. Lovely views of the harbour and very spacious living area.

Perfect located right above the harbour and looking out on Torbay. The balcony is a great treat because it got the sun in the morning - ideally to have breakfast and watching the boats and the town below. The flat has everything we needed and stunning views. It is recommend highly as a holiday retreat.

Despite the odd layout and difficulties finding it, we enjoyed our stay at Top Gallant. It's comfortable and has everything you need for a short break. The views are amazing and great restaurants, shops and buses are an easy walk away.

The views alone make Top Gallant a top choice. They are spectacular and you enjoy them from the lounge balcony on the top floor. The only negative is the tricky access and lack of on-site parking but this is not a fault of the cottage, it comes with the territory. Delightful cottage with outstanding views across the harbour and close to shops and restaurants. With all cottages there are compromises and the only drawback with this one are the stairs which are steep, twisty and narrow.
