Set within an established meadow enjoying stunning views across the Ridgeway, this original shepherd’s hut has been lovingly restored and is just perfect for couples looking to escape the real world.

Enjoying an enviable location within walking distance of the National Trail the Ridgeway. A well renowned trail with outstanding scenery throughout the area, this well waymarked trail is suitable for walkers, cyclists and horseback. An area steeped in history and heritage to include Liddington Castle one of the earliest hill forts in Britain, the World Heritage Site of Avebury, Silbury Hill and West Kennett Long Barrow. The National Trust village at Lacock along with some stunning historic houses and gardens including the famous Stourhead Gardens. Away from the countryside take some time to visit some of the Cotswold towns, Bath, Tetbury and Cirencester which are all within easy reach and offer a good selection of boutiques, cafes and restaurants.

Take a stroll across the meadow and enjoy the stunning views. This original shepherd’s hut has been part of the family for generations and offers a friendly welcome to all that come and stay. Perfect for a digital detox! Climb the wooden steps to step back in time, the painted wooden interior with colourful furnishings is just perfect, with cosy chairs and the wood burning stove will keep you warm on an autumn evening. There is a simple storage area for coats and boots, and a built in king size bed for a peaceful night’s sleep.

Outside the hut you will find a well-equipped kitchen area with electric two ring hob, a small fridge and BBQ , there is also a separate shower and WC. Wake up to the sound of bird song and take breakfast outside over-looking the countryside, or spend a lazy afternoon relaxing in the orchard and for star gazers why not light the fire pit. There is allocated parking for two cars.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

We loved our stay at the Shepherds rest. We had everything we needed and made the most of the bbq and fire pit. We felt very safe in terms of the Covid environment. Alex and Becky have created a little heaven of peace, exactly what we needed for the weekend. We loved giving the sheep a few snacks! The area is beautiful and we made the most of it foRead morellowing the Aldbourne circular walk. There are lovely pubs a few minutes drive away if you want dinner out. We cant wait to come back. This is a lovely shepherds hut to stay in. Perfect romantic getaway. Beautiful countryside. Well organised. Minimalist but everything you need. Part of the experience of staying in a shepherds hut is to be out there with nature. Starting fires, rustling up bbq's, going for walks in the countryside. If that's your thing, this is a great place to booRead morek. The hosts are really easy going, just left us to our own space for the duration so didn't feel intruded but always there if we need help. Perfect location for walking, we managed 40 miles of different walks over 3 day stay. Everything you need for a short stay, friendly owners who are happy to leave you alone but are there if anything is required. 3 friendly sheep next to the Shepherds rest who will happily eat the sheep nuts provided as many times a day as you wish. Had the best weekend at the sheperds rest, the hut is very cute and quirky and we loved sitting on the decking around the firepit looking out at amazing views. Hosts really friendly and helpful, would definitley reccomend to friends and will visit again! Thank you for a great weekend!

We loved the Shepherd's Hut. It was beautifully set up and had everything you could of needed to make it a relaxing and cosy weekend. We loved the walks around the area and it was only a short drive away to the nearest pub. Becky did everything to make sure we felt welcome and comfortable.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Shepherd's Rest last weekend. We booked last minute, mainly as a treat for our dog! Totally met our expectations & more... Peaceful, beautiful and a great 'get away from life and de-stress' place to be! We loved our stay in this old shepherds hut. The owners could not have been any more helpful and friendly. We would highly recommend a stay here for proper relaxation time. Not enough words to say what a fantastic break in this Shepards hut. Stunning views and walks to be had. The owners were very friendly and assisted us if ever we needed anything ( more wood for the fire pit). We will 100% be going back.
