Delightful flint cottage sleeping five guests, located in the picturesque Motcombe Village area of Eastbourne, and near to the South Downs National Park and Eastbourne seafront

This property enjoys a fantastic location just one mile north of Eastbourne town centre, in the area known as Motcombe Village, the town’s historic quarter. Eastbourne is a traditional seaside resort town which boasts a three-mile wide shingle beach, with a beautifully restored Victorian pier, and a great range of shops, restaurants, pubs, and bars. To the west of the town, just a short walk from the property, is the edge of the South Downs National Park, which has many miles of walking routes to be enjoyed, including the two-mile walk to Beachy Head.

The front door of this delightful cottage opens onto a hallway, off from which there is a cloakroom with a WC. Walking through the hallway, guests will come to the stunning open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, a wonderful space which provides a great space to come together and enjoy one another’s company. The lounge area in this room is a light-filled space with wooden floors and an area of exposed cobble wall which create an attractive blend of old and new. There is comfortable seating here, as well as a TV/DVD, whilst in the dining area the original stone fireplace is home to the warming wood burner. The kitchen area, to the rear of the space has a door which leads out to the courtyard garden, and is equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, and a washing machine. Stairs from the hallway lead to the first floor where the relaxing master bedroom is located. This dual-aspect room has a double bed and enjoys splendid views over the South Downs National Park. There is also a delightful twin bedroom on this floor with wrought iron bedsteads. Take the steep turned staircase to the attic space on the top floor, where a cosy single room is located, as well as the main bathroom. The bathroom feels like a restful, retreat-like space with its intricately tiled floor, a sumptuous roll-top bath, and WC. Guests should be aware that both rooms on the top floor have sloping ceilings and some reduced head-height.

Outside, there is a modestly-sized, yet pretty patio garden located to the rear of the property, where the owners have provided a table and chairs to allow guests to easily enjoy al fresco dining. There is unrestricted roadside parking outside the property, subject to availability.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

  • 3 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin, and 1 single
  • Sleeps 4+1 (additional single bed in the attic room)

Lots of positives to report. Located near to a park a pub and a Waitrose supermarket and a brisk walk down to Eastbourne. No issues parking as we left the car on the pavement outside the cottage. Positive points - Owner was responsive and friendly. Property was in a good location. Comfortable beds. Nice property overall. Pubs & shops few mins away. Negative points - Wasn't as clean as we had hoped, old cotton buds on bathroom floor & ledge behind bed was dirty. Fridge door didn't close properly. Not enough comfortable seating if more than 2Read more people staying. Front door was difficult to open & shut. Small garden was overgrown. Could be improved overall with some care & attention. Hide
