Just a few minutes walk from a fantastic racecourse, this beautiful, stylish and comfortable cottage nestles in a picturesque village with stunning views in the heart of the Lake District.

The lovely village of Cartmel lies just seven miles from the southern reach of Lake Windermere, and features plenty of fantastic restaurants, a Norman priory and the smallest National Hunt racecourse in the country. The village lies on the Cartmel Peninsula, a body of land tumbling out into the Morecambe Bay. Grange Over Sands, over the hill from Cartmel, has delightful local shops and a mile long promenade. Hampsfell and Eggerslack woods make for a light days walking with some stunning views. The lanes are perfect for cycling and the coastline offers some lovely spots, such as Humphrey Head, a real pirate cove with a limestone cliff jutting out into the bay.

On entering this delightful cottage you will find yourself in the central hall, which has been furnished as a small relaxing snug area which leads out to the smaller of the two patio areas. Back inside, the snug leads into the comfy and bright lounge/diner, which is tastefully furnished, with a cosy feel with the electric fire and is the perfect space to relax and gather together. Enjoy family time, or simply curl up with a good book or watch a movie on the Smart TV. To one side is the cosy dining area and, at the far end of the room French doors open out to a small walled and paved garden. Just inside at the far end of the lounge there is a separate downstairs WC and also utility room. Moving into the stylish and elegantly designed kitchen, you will find it fully equipped with Rangemaster oven with five gas burners and two ovens, microwave, fridge/freezer, wine cooler unit, dishwasher, Morphy Richards coffee machine, coffee cafetiere, multipurpose food mixer and washer/dryer. From the central hall, the stairs wind up to the first floor landing. Here you will find the spacious master bedroom with a king-size bed and TV along with an en-suite shower room. The twin bedroom features revealed stone walls and two comfortable beds and pretty window seat. You will also find a shower room on the first floor. A further stairway leads up and opens into the attic bedroom, a cosy space with double bed, pitched roof, exposed beams and revealed stone walls.

Outside you will find a delightful walled, furnished and flagged patio garden. A perfect sun trap where you can relax, enjoy a pre-dinner aperitif or dine alfresco on warm summer evenings. There is also a fire pit to make the most of the outside space on those chillier evenings.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

5 stars - excellent! Barn Garth Cottage is a beautifully presented cottage which has all the home comforts you could ask for. Every room has been tastefully and thoughtfully decorated to a high standard, with very comfortable beds and furnishings. It was also great for our dog, with a comfy basket, towels and treats provided and an outside hose aftRead moreer muddy walks! This was our first visit to Cartmel and the Barn Garth Cottage was perfectly situated in the centre of the village on a quiet lane. We were able to drop our luggage off outside the cottage, but had to find parking in the lanes around the village. This could be busy at certain times, but we were always able to park. In the evenings, we were spoilt for choice with four dog friendly pubs to choose from and we found the village a welcoming place to be. Its also perfectly located for exploring the Lakeland peninsulas and into the Lake District itself. Hide
