This property is located on the owner’s small farm, up a steep narrow hill in the picturesque Lake District National Park. It enjoys a fantastic location close to two of the area’s best-loved features: Coniston Water and The Old Man of Coniston, providing plenty of opportunity to enjoy scenic walks, challenging hikes, and a range of watersports, for which equipment can be hired from the nearby Coniston Boating Centre. For a more leisurely perspective of the lake, the beautifully restored steam yacht gondolas which depart from the town jetty are a fantastic way to spend a relaxing day on the water. Other attractions in or near to the village include The Ruskin Museum, the Go-Ape high ropes centre in Grizedale Forest, and Wray Castle.

This handsome stone barn is situated alongside several other properties on the owner’s farm and offers comfortable accommodation for five guests. On entering the cottage, guests will find a hallway, off from which there are two flights of stairs, one going up to the living area and the other going down to the bedrooms. Taking the stairs to the first floor, guests will come to the open-plan living space comprising a lounge/kitchen. The lounge area has a selection of seating enabling guests to sit back and enjoy the warmth of the log burner and perhaps watch a film on the Smart TV. The kitchen area is located just behind the lounge and is equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine / tumble dryer,  Dulce Gusto coffee machine and dishwasher. The separate dining room, meanwhile, is a great place to enjoying leisurely breakfasts and family dinners. On the way back to the stairs, there is a cloakroom with WC. The bedrooms and bathroom with shower over bath and WC, are located on the lower-ground floor. The first bedroom is a restful king-size double with a low-level, cottage-style window, whilst the second is a tastefully decorated room with a versatile sleeping arrangement having a double and a single bed.

Outside, there is an enclosed garden the front of the property, providing a pleasant place to sit and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere. Heading through the courtyard, and on towards the meadows, guests will come to the edge of the farm, from where they can enjoy miles of scenic walks. There is parking provided for two cars.

We really enjoyed our stay here in a very comfortable well equipped house. Coniston village is easily walkable but a pretty steep incline on the way back. The owner is very obliging and helpful and views fantastic over the lake. Easy to get to the 'old man' and a great walk if the weather obliges. Pub at Torver did great lunchtime food and the CrowRead moren in the village good evening meals. Hide

What a wonderful tranquil place to stay, surrounded by the most beautiful countryside with views to die for. Very friendly owners who love dogs. Yes the hill to the property is steep but dont let it deter you from staying here. Will be back as we have to climb the Old Man of Coniston.

Really lovely cottage, the owner Matt was so nice and helpful. Very clean and had everything we needed. Location is very quiet and a great starting point for walking up the Old Man of Coniston. It is up a serious incline from the village which feels quite hairy to drive up.

Perfect location for country walks and water sports, easy access to Coniston Lake. Owners friendly but not intrusive. We had a great week and would recommend this property for those who want a relaxing holiday, with picturesque scenery. Also ideal for those who enjoy sup boarding.
