Beautifully finished 16th century barn conversion property sleeping eight guests, offering breath-taking views to Coniston Water from the terraced garden and the cottage itself.

This property is located just a short walk from the north-east shore of Coniston Water in the picturesque Lake District. It offers the perfect base for exploring the area, and is great for those who want to enjoy scenic walks as well as boat trips and watersports on the lake. Lying on the opposite side of the lake to Coniston village, it is nevertheless only 1.5 miles from the village centre, where visitors will find several shops and a choice of pubs, as well as Coniston Boating Centre from where a range of craft can be hired including motor boats, sailing boats, canoes, and paddleboards. Just next to the boating centre is the departure point for the lovingly restored Victorian steamers which take visitors on leisurely cruises around the lake.

On arrival at this semi-detached barn conversion property, the first room that guests come to is an elegant dining room with a large dining table and attractive dresser. From here, several stairs lead down to the lounge, a handsome room which has been stylishly finished with a warming wood burner, comfortable seating, and TV/DVD. Returning back up the steps, guests will find a door off the dining room which leads through to the well-equipped kitchen where there is breakfast bar seating, as well as all the equipment that guests will need including an oven, hob, microwave, American-style fridge/freezer and dishwasher. The washing machine and tumble dryer can be found in a separate laundry room. The master king-sized double bedroom is located off the dining room, a wonderfully spacious room with large built-in wardrobes and views over the lake, which also benefits from an iPod dock and a well-appointed en-suite bathroom with a spa bath, separate shower, and WC. The remaining four bedrooms are situated on the lower-ground floor, the first of which is another double room, whilst there is also a peaceful twin room with large single beds and two restful single rooms. The main bathroom can be found on the same floor as these bedrooms, and offers a bath, separate shower, and WC. In addition to this there are also two separate WCs.

Across the courtyard from the cottage, a second barn conversion is home to the games room which has a pool table as well as a seating area, a wood burner, and a handy drinks fridge. Doors from the games room open out onto the property’s attractive terrace for which there is garden furniture provided, making it a fantastic place to enjoy alfresco dining and admire the views to Coniston Water. There is parking provided for four cars.

We loved the layout of the cottage for our large party (8 adults plus baby), and it was very comfortably furnished. We enjoyed views of the lake and Old Man Coniston, and the snooker room was a great bonus in a week of bad weather. A good location too - easy reach of Ambleside and Windermere, and lots of great walks.

Blore Hall is in such a perfect location for discovering the wonders of the Lower Peak District. Our property was on the edge of the site, overlooking looking field of sheep. It was lovely. If you enjoy walking, the walk to Dove Dale and Ilam are possible from the property and there are many quieter Bea walks a few minutes drive away.
