Kendal makes a great destination for a day trip, with several shopping arcades and some stunning architecture, as well as two castles, and two museums. Heading in the opposite direction, visitors will come to the eastern shore of Lake Windermere and the lakeside town of Bowness, which is a great place to sign up for a range of watersports, or join one of the leisure craft which run up and down the lake. For those who want to enjoy the area around the lake from dryland, why not head for Fell Foot, an expansive lakeside park offering lakeside walks, plenty of space for picnics, and a children’s adventure playground.

The front door of this property opens and leads into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. This room has a lovey cosy feel thanks to the original period features, including the dark wood beams. The lounge area is located towards the front of the room, a relaxing space with comfortable chairs, a TV/DVD, and DAB radio. The dining area sits close to the lounge, whilst the kitchen is situated towards the rear of the room and is equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, and washing machine, whilst the tumble dryer can be found in a separate shared laundry room. Stairs lead up to the first floor where there are two bedrooms, the first of which is a pretty double room with a window seat and cupboard alcove adding to the room’s character. The second bedroom has a super-king bed, which can be made up as a twin on request, and from which a door opens onto an exterior veranda. The bathroom can also be found on the first floor and offers a shower overbath and WC.

There is access from the living space into the attractive enclosed shared garden through a low 'windoor' (as in photos) which consists of a patio seating area with garden furniture and a BBQ, beyond which there is a lawn offering panoramic views of the Lythe Valley. We have been staying in the cottage twice a year for many years now. It more than rewards the 600 miles round trip from our home in Surrey. We now think of it as our home from home. Whatever the weather, the location in the South Lakes is always beatiful and we always find plenty to do never failing to find something new.

We had a lovely stay in this cottage. The owners were very friendly and helpful and we had everything provided that we could ask for. There were 3 of us which was fine, it may have been a bit crowded for 4 people.

Lovely mid cottage set in beautiful gardens. Hosts were super helpful and great to chat with. Although you'll need a car as a little remote, there's a pub about 100 metres from the door. Very handy for trips to Keswick and Windermere.

A lovely character cottage with a homely feel and in a superb location far enough away from the busy tourist zones to feel in nature but well located to explore all the great fells and towns. An attractive historic building in a beautiful location. Perfectly situated for exploring the Southern Lakes and with the added bonus of being close to many first class restaurants. Can't recommend too highly.

Lovely cosy cottage in ideal location to explore the Lakes. Stayed for 5 nights - me and my wife, and our two boys (15 & 11) plus two dogs. Hosts are lovely, great pub round the corner. Cottage has everything you need and felt at home immediately. Even the dogs were very happy. Would love to return again.

Lovely little cottage with all the home comforts. Cracking location and extremely quiet. Ok if dogs don't mind mixing if others are in shared garden. Many nice dog friendly pubs about. Thinking of returning already

Great cottage however the shared garden can be a little bit of a pain when you have a dog which is not particularly dog friendly and owners dogs came to window and would bark however they are friendly dogs when outside with them!

The Cottage is a great little find. It's Cosy, but has everything we needed for a week's stay in the Lakes. We are a family of four with a dog and we had no problem fitting in the place. The steps / small door to the garden would be a challenge to someone who's unsteady, but you can get round the side. When we arrived there was one dishwasher tab, Read more3 laundry tabs, some instant coffee, cooking oil spray and a pint of milk. The nearest shop is a good drive, so do take anything else you might need. Hide
