Property code: LCC40

Romantic cottage offering lovely accommodation for two guests in the Lake District village of Bouth: an idyllic couple’s retreat situated just four miles from the edge of picturesque Lake Windermere.

This property enjoys an attractive location overlooking the surrounding countryside in the Lake District village of Bouth. The well-regarded village pub is within walking distance of the cottage and is perfect for popping out for dinner or relaxing with afternoon drinks. Just a five minute walk away, there is a fantastic farm shop and tearoom which is a great place buying locally produced treats. Four miles east of the cottage is Lake Windermere, the most-visited and largest of the lakes. There is plenty to see and do both on the lake and on the lakeside, ranging from watersports and boat trips to pretty towns, historic castles and houses, and scenic walks. The village farm has a tea room, home made dairy ice cream from their own Jersey cows, a gift and interior shop, and they run steam and tractor experience days (

Guests arriving at this cottage cross the sunny patio before making their way through the front door which opens directly into the delightful kitchen/diner. This room, like the rest of the house, has been finished to a high standard with well-maintained original features adding an authentic charm. A dining table sits to one side of the room, whilst guests will easily find everything they need to make themselves at home, with the oven, hob, and microwave in the main kitchen area, and the fridge/freezer, coffee machine, dishwasher, and washer/dryer situated in the adjoining utility room. Moving through to the lounge, guests will find themselves in a wonderfully cosy room where a wood burner sits in the stone fireplace, surrounded by exposed wooden beams and whitewashed walls. There is a choice of comfortable seating as well as a TV/DVD with Sky channels and an iPod dock. The bathroom and bedroom can be found on the first floor of the property, the king-size bedroom providing a sumptuous sanctuary-like space, finished to a high standard with well-chosen elegant furnishings. Just next door to the bedroom, the bathroom is perfect for relaxing in the double-ended free-standing bath, whilst there is also a separate shower and WC.

To the front of the property there is a sunny patio for which garden furniture and a BBQ are provided, making it a great spot for sitting out and enjoying alfresco drinks or meals. There is off-road parking for one car, and there is secure bike storage available.

Pretty, cosy, welcoming cottage in a great location for exploring the Lakes. The owners couldnt have been more helpful and responsive. Very comfortable and a lovely home to return to after a days walking. Great village pub too.

A small but perfectly formed cottage. Very cosy in the right way and perfect for two. The bathroom is particularly nice. Although at one end of the Lake District, in winter we had no problem easily getting to all the places we wanted to go.

We visited at the end of November 2019, on arrival we were met with a lovely cozy and warm cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed the week, massive bath and a fantastic woodburner were perfect for evenings in after walking all day. The bed was extremely comfortable. Lovely pub only a minute walk away, but sufficient utensils were available to cook your ownRead more meals as required. The hosts were friendly and approachable, and prepared the property to a high standard prior to our arrival. Thank you! Hide

No.2 Rose cottage is a stunning example of what a holiday cottage should be, beautifully decorated and furnished. and very well equipped. Bouth is a quiet small village but easily accessible and a good base from which to explore the region, it also has a traditional country pub serving good beer and food 5 minutes walk from the cottage.

A beautiful little gem of a cottage. Well located and laid out with all the comforts you'll need. Very friendly owners living nearby gave a warm welcome and showed us how to make the most of the comforts in the cottage. Great private outdoor area for sunset views. Peaceful and quiet. A tonic for mind and soul.
