Property code: LCC47

Good food, peace and quiet, beautiful scenery, and the seaside: this is all on offer locally for guests staying at this property, not to mention a huge choice of outdoor pursuits and places of interest. Spend your days walking in the fells and mountains of the lake district, or perhaps head out onto Lake Windermere on one of the leisurely cruises. More adventurous or sporty types might like to try kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, or even open-water swimming if they are feeling brave, or perhaps stay on dryland and give abseiling, gorge walking, or ghyll scrambling a go. There is also lots on offer for those with an interest in finding out more about the heritage and history of the area, with the homes of Beatrix Potter, John Ruskin, and William Wordsworth all being open to the public and all offering a fascinating insight into the lives of these famous Lake District residents.

Guests enter this property in the hallway/utility room which is where they can leave coats and muddy boots, and is also where the washing machine and tumble dryer can be found. From here they will come directly to the kitchen, which is well-equipped with a Range oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, and dishwasher. Next to the kitchen is the first of two reception rooms, a welcoming lounge/diner which, in addition to the dining table also has a comfy sofa, a flame-effect gas fire, and a TV/DVD. The second lounge offers yet another space for guests to relax, again with a flame-effect gas fire, and TV/DVD, but this time with French windows which open onto the courtyard garden. Upstairs there are two tasteful bedrooms both of which benefit from their own en-suite facilities. The master bedroom is a spacious king-size room offering plenty of wardrobe space and a dressing table as well as its own TV. A door leads through to the en-suite bathroom, a sanctuary-like room with a deep corner bath, separate shower, and a WC. The second bedroom is a twin room, finished to the same high standard as the master bedroom and benefitting from an en-suite shower and WC.

Patio doors from the lounge lead out to the shingled courtyard where guests will find garden furniture, making it the perfect spot for sitting out in the evenings enjoying alfresco drinks or meals. There is a gated parking area to the side of the property which has space for two cars.

  • 2 bedrooms - 1 king-size with TV and 1 twin

We loved the house and location but the property is in need of some TLC and attention. Although I wouldn't describe the property as dirty, it certainly wasn't luxury. The carpets and 1 sofa were stained, window frames and window blinds mouldy, musty smell due to water ingress in the main bedroom. The microwave and main shower were also broken whichRead more was disappointing. The is good off street parking for 2 cars, and some easy walks from the house. The cottage is nice and located next to the village store and one of the pubs so good location. Some work needed on the cottage and facilities to give the guest the feeling of value for money - we didn't rate the cottage as luxury but was ok and we had a pleasant holiday.

Property was very spacious and well kept, the off road parking was a boon in Cartmel, and ample space for two cars. A short walk into the village centre.

We had a lovely week in Cartmel, the property was one of the best weve ever stayed in and having the parking space was a valuable asset. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were grateful for the wine and cookies left for us! We also valued James contact regarding an issue on our arrival.

Beautifully situated, only used the car twice all holiday as so much to do in & around Cartmel. Great bacon baps for breakfast from the adjacent Food Shed, not impressed by the pub opposite. Great pubs/wine bars/Pizza in the village centre, choice more limited Monday to Wednesday as some places closed. Great walks from the cottages including the raRead morececourse & up the hill to the hospice monument. Cottage perhaps in need of a deep clean & new showers but wouldnt put me off staying again!
