Stylish cottage offering a high standard of accommodation for four guests, situated in the much sought-after Cumbrian village of Cartmel, located 6.5 miles from the shores of Lake Windermere.

Good food, peace and quiet, beautiful scenery, and the seaside: this is all on offer locally for guests staying at this property, not to mention a huge choice of outdoor pursuits and places of interest. Spend your days walking in the fells and mountains of the lake district, or perhaps head out onto Lake Windermere on one of the leisurely cruises. More adventurous or sporty types might like to try kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, or even open-water swimming if they are feeling brave, or perhaps stay on dryland and give abseiling, gorge walking, or ghyll scrambling a go. There is also lots on offer for those with an interest in finding out more about the heritage and history of the area, with the homes of Beatrix Potter, John Ruskin, and William Wordsworth all being open to the public and all offering a fascinating insight into the lives of these famous Lake District residents.

 

Guests enter this property in the hallway/utility room which is where they can leave coats and muddy boots, and is also where the washing machine and tumble dryer can be found. From here they will come directly to the kitchen, which is well-equipped with a Range oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, and dishwasher. Next to the kitchen is the first of two reception rooms, a welcoming lounge/diner which, in addition to the dining table also has a comfy sofa, a flame-effect gas fire, and a TV/DVD. The second lounge offers yet another space for guests to relax, again with a flame-effect gas fire, and TV/DVD, but this time with French windows which open onto the courtyard garden. Upstairs there are two tasteful bedrooms both of which benefit from their own en-suite facilities. The master bedroom is a spacious king-size room offering plenty of wardrobe space and a dressing table as well as its own TV. A door leads through to the en-suite bathroom, a sanctuary-like room with a deep corner bath, separate shower, and a WC. The second bedroom is a twin room, finished to the same high standard as the master bedroom and benefitting from an en-suite shower and WC.

 

Patio doors from the lounge lead out to the shingled courtyard where guests will find garden furniture, making it the perfect spot for sitting out in the evenings enjoying alfresco drinks or meals. There is a gated parking area to the side of the property which has space for two cars.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Please note there is a refundable £150 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

Rossendale House is spacious and bright. It is close to the village and has a corner shop, public house and bread shop three doors down. The decor is fresh and modern with stunning prints by the owner. The sofas, beds and furniture are functional as well as comfortable, I fell asleep on the sofa too many times to mention!! Location of cottage is fine but too many issues needing to be resolved for a relaxing stay. Spent about two hours on day after arrival trying to sort out issue of lock on French windows and ended up having to sort out problem myself. Gave up on other issues as did not want to waste more time which should have been leisure. Overall property is not uRead morep to the standard expected for a weekly rental of 900. Hide

Perfect location and the off-road parking was ideal. The enclosed, gated garden provided privacy and safety for our 2 dogs and has the sun all day. The cottage was spacious and provided everything we needed for our week long stay. I would definitely return and recommend it.

Location of Rossendale House was fantastic. Almost opposite a good local pub. Having only a two minute walk into the village was also a luxury. I could imagine this would be a premium on race day! The home itself had well appointed bedrooms - both bedrooms with an En-suite. There was a good feeling a space and comfort and there were also a full ranRead morege of appliances which meant you didnt have to do lots of washing up or running out of clean clothes! This is the second time we have stayed at Rossendale House and can't wait to return again next year. The property is spacious and comfortable,a real home from home . The off road parking is a massive plus due to the village filling up over the racing weekend. A beautiful cottage in the delightful village of Cartmel. A great base from which to explore the Southern Lakes. A comfortable large cottage with great amenities. Cartmel really is a truly beautiful place, a stunning Priory and a foodies delight with several great restaurants. We will definitely be back.

After a long hard car journey the cottage was extremely welcoming with warmth, a hamper, lamps and fairy lights. Very tastefully furnished and extremely like a home from home. Spacious and clean. Great place to explore the Southern Lakes from. Cartmel is a gem of a village and foodie heaven. Loved the owners art work on the house walls.
