Surrounded by nature, this contemporary barn conversion is perfect for guests looking to get away from it all.

Situated on the edge of a forest overlooking a river and waterfall, this property offers peace and tranquillity. Grizedale Forest is a vast area of ancient woodland through which wonderful walking and cycling routes can be followed, passing sculptural pieces and woodland creatures along the way. Head to nearby Coniston Water to hire a rowing, sailing or motor boat, or stick to dry land and climb the Old Man of Coniston, which towers above the lake offering splendid views from the top. One mile from the property, the village of Satterthwaite is home to a popular pub which serves hearty meals and hosts the occasional festival and live music event.

Tall glazed double doors open into a welcoming hallway with slate floor and timber staircase where you can leave coats, boots and bags before continuing through to the large open-plan kitchen/diner. The kitchen is contemporary and well-equipped and the dining area beyond features a large farmhouse style table and comfortable armchairs nearby for reading. Also on the ground floor is an airy king-size bedroom and adjacent modern shower room. The spacious sitting room is located on the first floor, offering wonderful river and woodland views. Furnished with plump sofas, interesting artwork, occasional lighting and a TV, this is a homely space for unwinding after a long day. The second king-size bedroom is situated off the sitting room with a further shower room next door.

Outside, there is a small private patio garden with delightful bench for soaking up the sunshine. Behind this, a charming terrace area overlooks the beck and makes for a romantic spot for enjoying an evening drink or al fresco meal.

We stayed at Waterfall cottage over the Christmas week and had a really wonderful stay. We received a lovely welcome from the host John. The property had been decorated for the festive season which was a very thoughtful touch. Everything worked in the property and the bed was extremely comfortable with lovely white bed linen and soft fluffy towels

Comfortable, very clean and a beautiful quiet location with the forrest and beck so close. Welcome tea and biscuits much appreciated after a long journey. Would recommend groceries to be delivered, Asda and Tesco supply this area saves a lot of hassle. Good local pub. All in all a most enjoyable holiday.

We have had a very relaxing time at Waterfall. The cottage is spotlessly clean and very cosy, and close to all the area's attractions. The Eagle's Head pub in Satterthwaite is great for meals. We had a great time. Thank you for the welcoming tray and milk...very much appreciated.

Had a great time at Waterfall Cottage. Really as described when booking. Great place to relax and easy for walks to different places. Also handy for Windermere and other attractions in the area. My son and his girlfriend even braved going into the water near the falls and had a great time. Will definitely return.

Perfect cottage, just right for relaxing, as were the steamer trips on Windermere and Ullswater, and the steam train from Lakeside to Haverthwaite and back. Stott Park Bobbin Mill is an absolute gem of a museum...we did the 40-minute guided tour. Well worth a visit!

Had a lovely week's walking here, including a full day in Grizedale, where we spotted some deer. Lovey weather. We would rate the Sun Inn and the Queen's Head in Hawkshead for excellent food (booking is advisable).

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Waterfall Cottage. It was warm, cosy and spotlessly clean. We very much enjoyed our meal at the Eagle's Head in Satterthwaite, where the staff were really friendly and our steaks cooked to perfection

Waterfall Cottage is very spacious and inside looks as it does in the picture. The waterfall cannot be seen from the property and is a walk through a narrow garden to get there.
