This cosy cottage has bags of charm and comfort providing the perfect retreat for couples and small families, don’t forget your walking boots to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside.

Set in a small hamlet in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Cumbrian and Northumbrian borders, this charming cottage is a great base to explore the surrounding countryside, enjoy miles of quiet dog walks from the doorstep either on foot or by bike. Spend a day tackling the magnificent Hadrian’s Wall followed by a pit stop in nearby Brampton with an ample choice of eateries and independent shops to explore. The world-famous Lake District is just a short drive away with its 12 lakes and endless opportunities to cycle, walk or take a steamer boat trip.

Nestled in a row of cottages step in through the stable door into a handy utility area with freezer, washing machine and space to keep your bikes safe and secure. Take a couple of steps up into the cosy lounge/kitchen/diner and leave your boots at the door as the deep pile carpet sets the tone for the comfort of the cottage, snuggle into one of the armchairs by the wood burner and watch TV or pick up a good book and lose yourself. There is a dining table which is set overlooking the impressive fireplace and makes a great spot for a celebration dinner. The kitchen provides everything you need to rustle up a good meal, equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge and microwave. Completing the ground floor is the bathroom, bright and airy with shower over bath and WC. Head upstairs to the first floor where the master double bedroom boasts dual aspect windows overlooking the surrounding countryside, relax in bed whilst the wood burner in the room glows and crackles for a truly unique experience. The nearby twin bedroom is a twin zip-and-link (which can be made up as a super-king-size on request).

Directly outside there is a right of way for the neighbouring cottages which leads to off-road parking for two cars. A little further behind is an enclosed grass garden surrounded by mature planting that leads to a gem with a hidden stream, sit on the nearby bistro set and enjoy the peace and tranquillity that surrounds you.

The cottage was very comfortable and kitted out with good quality equipment. It was so relaxing reading by the bedroom window watching the sheep. Despite the shower being new we found this a disappointment power and flow were not as we'd hoped.

Quiet cosy terraced cottage on the North Yorkshire Moors. Has all the basic amenities required to make an enjoyable and comfortable holiday. Some interesting walks over Tindale Fell at the back of the cottage, accessed from a Bridleway 50 yards or so east along the A689. For relaxing in the evening TV signal was good with a choice of working channeRead morels. Although the WiFi was very slow, it could cope with streaming if other devices were silenced. Great location and a clean comfortable cottage. Staircase steep and could be challenging to elderly or infirm guests. Dogs need to be on leads in both gardens due to no gates or barriers to prevent escape straight onto main road or into the beck and beyond ! Friendly helpful neighbours and good base for walking. Peaceful, relaxing location.

The location is remote so if you are looking for peace and quiet this would be suitable. We found it unsuitable for the dog as the garden is not attached to the property, and the dog didn't enjoy walking alongside a busy road. Being noted as dog friendly is one of the reasons we chose this property. Bathroom is in need of an upgrade, however owner Read moredid explain it was scheduled then cancelled due to the pandemic. It is a cosy property, with nice furniture, decor could be given a refresh. Hide

We had a lovely break, and if you're looking for a quiet retreat then you might consider this property. We were a little disappointed that the garden was separate to the house and so we couldn't leave the door open for the dog to wander freely (which was one of the main purposes for our choosing this property). It's comfortable but could do with a Read morelittle spring cleaning and updating, so we felt the price was at quite a premium for what you get. Hide

A really lovely and well equipped cottage, in a beautiful setting. The cottage has everything you need and is in a lovely quiet location with easy access to Hadrians wall and local attractions. Highly recommend, would love to visit again

lovely cottage far more spacious than i was expecting from the photos, but very clean well presented and very homely and also in a great location for venturing out and about, and even though its in a row of cottages it still was very peaceful and felt very private

Very picturesque cottage set in a beautiful location. The road is deceivingly peaceful (there are no pavements or grass verges) but it can be a dangerous situation for pedestrians and pets as it becomes very busy at weekends and holiday peak periods with motorbike clubs speeding past. There lovely walks nearby as well as places of historical intereRead morest within a short driving distance such as Lambley Viaduct, Brampton, Halton Lea Gate and Talkin Tarn. The cottage is well equipped and the 2 log burners are a lovely feature. It is warm and cosy. The 10 minute walk up to the disused railway is worth it to see how the mining community lived and worked. From there walk another 30 minutes to get to Tindale Tarn. Or walk the 3 miles to Hallgatebank along the track to go to The Belted Will pub. BeautifuRead morel sunsets and a lot of bird life. Hide

A two bedroomed cottage with a good sized lounge diner, small kitchen, downstairs bathroom and an entrance lobby. The furnishings were comfortable, the kitchen well equipped for the size with a freezer in the lobby. Heating that we did not need is provided by electric heaters and solid fuel. There is a garden with seating and sun loungers at the reRead morear of the property. There are a variety of good walks from the door. A spacious cottage in a brilliant position for exploring the region. Very helpful owner who was on hand for advice and guidance about walks in the area. Beautiful decor.
