Enjoying an enviable location at the foot of the Skirrid, this beautifully hand crafted shepherds hut has a private hot tub and fire pit, just perfect for those looking for a little adventure.

Nestled at the foot of the Skirrid, on the eastern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park and the Wye Valley. It is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and relax in the great Welsh outdoors. The area is also steeped in history with some of Europe’s finest surviving castles, Abergavenny Castle set against the spectacular hills and Crickhowell Castle, a prominent feature within a small market town, or if you want more of an adventure try canoeing or kayaking on the River Wye. The area is also host to a vibrant events calendar to include Usk show and Abergavenny food festival.

Head inside the shepherds hut and you will find the lounge/diner and sleeping area with an inviting wood burner to snuggle up in front of after a day exploring the area. The lounge area has seating where you can relax and listen to music on the DAB radio. There is handily a kettle and a toaster in the lounge area. The kitchen area, with gas stove, microwave and fridge, is to the side of the shepherds hut. In the evening snuggle up in the comfy double bed and look out at the stars. You will also find a shower room with shower and WC.

After a day exploring why not enjoy a soak in your own private hot tub, there is also an area set with table and chairs for summer dining and a charcoal BBQ; guests will need to provide their own charcoal. There is allocated parking for one car. There is also a lovely tea room on site which is run by the property owners. Due to current social distancing measures, the tea room on site may be operating different services, opening days and times.

Please note there is a refundable £50 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

Really nice hosts with great hospitality. Loved the hot tub and lodging. It was a great weekend break and they kindly bought as a bottle of champagne following our engagement!

Our holiday cottage was amazing. Best holiday we've had. Beautiful scenery & location, clean and tidy and the owners were very welcoming. We had our own private hot tub which was an added bonus. Lovely tea room around the corner from where we were staying that made a lovely breakfast. We can't wait to book another gateway there.

Absolutely wonderful place. Friendly and very relaxed hosts and a wonderfully convenient location (5 mins drive from Abergavenny). The hut was super-cute, and the private hot tub and hammock really helped us relax!

Initial thoughts were it was less secluded than we thought, but after settling in, it was actually perfect... Surrounded by a private fence high enough for privacy, but not to spoil the views. Everything you needed, extremely comfortable. & the owner was extremely helpful ... Definitely return.

We arrived at the same time as storm Dennis so not the best weekend to review. No electricity for 2 hours on the Saturday evening. Candles would have been useful. Large amount of water ran down and sat in a puddle between main hut and kitchen but as weather was extreme Im sure this isnt a regular occurrence. Fantastic short break away, the property is kept in an immaculate condition and the owners couldn't have been more helpful during our time there. Choice of breakfast in the cafe is second to none and really sets you up for the day. I would definitely visit again.

Lovely little huts with incredible views all round! Slightly closer to the road and owners property than we imagined but this wasnt too much of a problem! Definitely take tea bags, salt and pepper! Kitchen facilities are good but we missed our salt! Walk up Skirrid starts from approx 100m from huts which is amazing- would definitely recommend this Read moreplace! Hide

Very cosy & comfortable hut with adjacent kitchen hut & hot tub. Accommodation was exactly what we expected- small but finished to a high standard and immaculately clean. Had the most excellent 3 nights stay. The cafe next door does very good breakfasts & easy to get into nearby Abergavenny by car/taxi.
